I bought one for myself as a bit of a secret xmas present to me. Didn't need it (I thought) but just fancied something just for me.

I used it this morning for the first time. it is absolutely amazing!

I have very wavy, very thick, very strong & sometimes very frizzy shoulder length hair cut into layers. It has turned my frankly fugly bed head mop into a lovely smooth, neat and flicky do. It looks fab and it took all of about 3 minutes and I didn't even really know what I was doing.

Wish I had of bought one ages ago!

Oh no southeastastra now I need curl secret too! If only I had known about this 2 weeks ago when everyone was asking what I want for my birthday, goddammit. Grin

iwasyoungonce · 26/12/2013 22:29

Blimey just seen the price of Curl Secret....

Maybe not then!

SwedishEdith · 26/12/2013 22:33

Wasn't overly impressed either - keep thinking I should try again with it. Didn't grip the hair so had to use 2 hands, which sort of defeated the object for me. Got a Parlux hairdryer for xmas - am excited about that now. Have a houseful of failed gadgets and miracle products.

darksparrow · 26/12/2013 23:00

KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! They have a 3 yr guarantee and I'm on my 3rd- no warning they just go poof and stop working. That said, would not be without mine - I just rough dry with hairdryer then run bbh over it. For better body and when I have time I use it from wet.

sotiredfornow · 27/12/2013 08:27

I'm about to buy the 42mm and have medium length hair just past my shoulder. Could anyone reassure me this is the correct size? Or is this only for bob length??

MrsCampbellBlack · 27/12/2013 08:32

I have used mine very rarely - just doesn't do it for me. I have shoulder length fine hair and find using my new collexia hairdrier gets much better results.

HazleNutt · 27/12/2013 09:19

If you try to use it as a curler (grip the hair and roll it around the brush) then it's likely you don't get what the fuss is about. You're supposed to use the brush to brush the hair, not to grip. like here:

AlaskaNebraska · 27/12/2013 09:29

Lol at her and toosulled

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 27/12/2013 09:33

That is how I use it but my hair is nothing like hers and the very smooth sleek look doesn't really suit me. Not sure why I bought it to be honest. It is quite good for sorting out my unruly long fringe.

OnTheBottomWithAWomansWeekly · 27/12/2013 12:41

Have just used it for the first time after my shower. OMFG my hair has never looked better! Now to go out shopping & to see if it lasts...

CalamityKate · 27/12/2013 12:56

I love mine and would get another if it broke.

The only complaint I've got is that the bristles seem to splay and go "fuzzy" really quickly and therefore don't grip the hair so well.

MikeChristmasTreeIsLit · 27/12/2013 13:01

Anyone seen one in the sales?

I need the biggest one.

BananaNotPeelingWell · 27/12/2013 13:20

I'm never sure if I need one of these or notConfused. I'm not bad at blow drying my hair. Do they make a huge difference or are they really for those that never really got to grips with a brush and hairdryer in the first place? I suppose the only way I'll ever know is to try one. My hair is straight and fine. A base of neck length bob, so I'm not struggling with a luscious super thick mane of wavy hair

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 27/12/2013 13:28

The 42mm is currently £28 at Asda

The 50mm is in Boots at £39.99

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 27/12/2013 13:34

I've had another go this morning as thinking about it made me want to see how I got on again. My hair is long wavy/curly layers (below the shoulder) but straight on top, waves are from ear level downwards My main complaint about my hair is that the top layer gets very fluffy and my long fringe develops random kink overnight. Before I have done the whole head with the BBH, which makes it too straight (I like my curls), today I only did the fringe and top layer and it does look lovely all smooth on top of the curly lower layers. It was a bit easier than doing it with a dryer and brush, but I'm not sure if I'd buy another if it packed up.

MikeChristmasTreeIsLit · 27/12/2013 14:52

I have really long (almost bum length) thick wavy/frizzy hair so I think I would need the 50mm.

I'm scared my hair is too long and it will get tangled. I need to try one before I buy I think.

HepsibarCrinkletoes · 27/12/2013 14:59

Best £40 odd I've ever spent. Absolutely love mine and, although it took me a few goes to suss it out one of my DDs showed me I wouldn't be without it now.

lucjam · 27/12/2013 15:37

You wil NOT regret a purchase I promise. I got one 2 years ago, took my ok but a bit frizzy hair and made it glossy and bouncy and gorgeous. I get a lot of compliments about my hair these days. I only get it cut about 4 times a year.

BananaNotPeelingWell · 27/12/2013 15:41

Are you supposed to dry your hair from completely wet with it? Or just finish off nearly dry hair at the end with the BBH?

ginmakesitallok · 27/12/2013 15:46

I got one in boots today for £35 (extra 10% off cause I bought dp a beard trimmer thing too). Just tried it out and don't think I'll ever use my hairdryer again. I've got thick curly hair, which I can't blow dry, I just can't do the twisty brush thing! But the bbh is fabulous, just need to practice doing the back.

lucjam · 27/12/2013 15:55

banana dry your hair till almost dry with hair dryer then use bbh. just using bbh takes agesand you don't get as good results my shoulder length hair (not thick but enough of it) takes about 5 mins to dry and style.

BananaNotPeelingWell · 27/12/2013 16:02

Many thanks!Smile Am tempted now..

LilyRose88 · 27/12/2013 16:29

It took me a while to realise that you need to use the BBH on hair that is almost dry, but once I started using it properly I wouldn't be without it. I never use my GHDs anymore and I have just bought another BBH with a smaller barrel, so that I can do some different styles. My hair is really thick and slightly wavy, and is just past my shoulders. The only downside is that I sometimes tangle my hair in it as I am a bit clumsy, but I have worked out how to untangle it without too much trouble - just reverse the spin.

LulaPalooza · 27/12/2013 18:58

OMFG indeed... I bought mine from a lovely MNer and loved them but got out of the habit of using them. Just got them out again, inspired by this thread, and now have lovely swishy swooshy hair. I love mine. Takes a bi of practice but totally worth it (pun intended)

Nerfmother · 27/12/2013 20:12

Okay totally blame the mums better who posted about Asda and the sherry as I've just ordered one and I don't even need one! Grin
