Bikini Waxing

Is a brazillian bikini wax more painful than a standard bikini wax? Are brazillian waxes still popular especially with the over 30's?

Hi. I have had a Brazilian instead of a normal bikini wax for a couple of years now and much prefer it (in the over 30's bracket btw!). They use the hard wax which they pull straight off the skin instead of using wax and cloth strips. It's mostly a lot less painful I find as the wax only grips the hair and not the skin. It still does have that 'ouch' factor for a second of course, esp around the erm, more, delicate areas, but I much prefer it.

I am in the almost 40s bracket and have a hollywood - might as well take it all off!
Never had just a standard bikini so wouldn't know the difference in pain. But does depend when in the month I go.

Hippychickster · 22/12/2013 19:04

I'm 49 and I get waxed!! My waxer is brilliant - very very thorough!

KosherBacon · 22/12/2013 19:19

Can anybody recommend a good waxer in manchester? Mine has left and nowhere seems to use hot/ hard wax. I'm not having strip wax.

dreaming2013 · 22/12/2013 20:31

^ google 'Brazilian Waxing Company Manchester' - they are the best, very well trained, very professional, excellent result.

KosherBacon · 22/12/2013 20:37

The Brazillian waxing company use strip wax, rather than hard wax.

dreaming2013 · 22/12/2013 21:06

Have they always? I haven't been for a while but thought they did hot wax. What's bad about strip wax?

KosherBacon · 22/12/2013 21:10

Strip wax hurts like a mofo! So much more painful.

cafebistro · 22/12/2013 21:11

I'm late 30's and have the whole lot off Shock. I had the hard wax once and it was excruciating, never again! I much prefer the strips.

AngieM2 · 22/12/2013 21:35

Over 40, regular Brazillian, couldn't live without it...but whats a hard wax/strip wax etc?

KosherBacon · 22/12/2013 21:37

Hard wax is the stuff that sets and they pull the whole thing off, without a strip of fabric. Strip wax is he traditional stuff that they smear on thinly and pull of with fabric or paper strips.

Rach96 · 23/12/2013 14:39

It seems that the brazillian wax is still very popular?

Make sure that they use the hotwax and not the strip. I take 1 ibuprofen and 2 paracetamol before I go, it takes the edge of the pain.
Or 2 glasses of wine does the same job.
Try to go midcycle, it makes a difference

NewName123 · 24/12/2013 19:16

you need to find yourself an experienced waxer. I have had some that obviously didn't know what they are doing.

Rach96 · 30/12/2013 07:40

What's been your motivation behind having either a brazillian or hollywood wax. Does it make you feel cleaner?

MrsMaryCooper · 30/12/2013 08:23

I like the sensation, and it sets off my piercing better.

Rach96 · 16/01/2014 15:24

Does anybody else prefer a Brazilian wax over a normal bikini wax?

Weelady77 · 16/01/2014 15:29

The first time I went for a Brazilian I was nearly sick with fear! I went and didn't flinch once my waxer uses hot wax for sensitive areas and honestly not sore at all I've been getting done now for couple of years and it's greatSmile

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 16/01/2014 16:34

What happens between waxings, seeing as the hair has to be about 1cm before you can have it waxed? How long do do you tend to have to be unkempt for? This is the one thing that puts me off.

Weelady77 · 16/01/2014 16:41

Hot wax only grips the hair not the skin so it's not as sore and it doesn't have to be a certain length either, I normally get done every 4-6 weeks
