Inspired by the 'red lipstick for pale skin' thread I am going to bunk off work late this afternoon and sneak off to House of Fraser and buy myself one 'treat' lipstick.

I have dyed red hair, pale skin and blue eyes. I want something a bit dramatic as already have loads of nude/ deep pink lippies.

Mac Lady Bug? Or do you have a favourite you'd recommend?

Do you have a cool or warm undertone. Ladybug is slightly orange toned so would suit a slightly warmer skin.

jimjamspam · 19/12/2013 09:44

The Mac Counter will find you one which suits

I love Russian Red which is a blue toned red

ElizabethBathory · 19/12/2013 10:27

Mac Red is lovely and def worth a try. I always forget about it because it's just called 'Red'. Try Ruby Woo as well, that's definitely dramatic. My favourite is Russian Red - but I am very pale and cool toned with dark eyes and hair, so quite different from you. Try Lady Danger if you want a dramatic, slightly orange toned one.

RevoltingPeasant · 19/12/2013 10:30

I think (?!) probably warm. Lipsticks that look good on me now are warm nudes and corally or deep pinks.

Thanks all :)

Mac Lady Danger could be your perfect red then :)

slug · 19/12/2013 12:10

I'm the same colouring as you (down to the dyed red hair) My current favourites are:

Lipstick Queen velvet rope in Black Tie
Nars Velvet matt in Cruella

ElizabethBathory · 19/12/2013 12:12

Velvet rope looks amazing slug Shock

I just bought Cruella - love it.

ElizabethBathory · 19/12/2013 12:13

Wow. It's £35.

KosherBacon · 19/12/2013 20:04

Not that I would ever consider spending £35 on a lipstick ever, but QVC has velvet rope for £27 +£3 postage. You can try it out for a month and send it back if you don't like it. www.qvcuk.com/Lipstick-Queen-Velvet-Rope-Lipstick.product.204518.html black tie looks awesome.

I've had to give up drinking for more than a month. And it's Christmas. So £35 on a lipstick is my compensation. Wink

So I bought Lady Bug - which turns out to be pretty much exactly the same shade as the Lancome lipstick I'm currently wearing like it's going out of fashion -

Lancome Madame Tulipe from Rouge in Love range

But hell, I like it.

Don't tell DH but I currently have more lipstick in my work make-up case than I will probably use in about 2 years Grin

Mwah!

I have been searching for the red lippie that doesn't turn me Drag Queen and stays put.
Added to the challenge, I have really thin lips (dark hair, hazel eyes, celtic skin)

Today I bought an M&S Autograph Matt in Mulberry. Love it Xmas Grin

It has a dinky, smart click in place cover.
And applied with a brush it looks marvellous.
(I've got Lipcote too, I'll give that a try)
