Jeans help!

Where is the best place to buy jeans for a nearly 38 mum-of-two who is a size 12-14 usually but currently more like a 14-16? My DH has offered to buy me some as a Christmas pressie, and has taken tomorrow afternoon off work so we can go try on. Before children I wore Gap jeans for years, but I'm not sure they now suit my (squidgy, mum-tum muffin topped) post-baby body.

The Levi's I have are massive in the waist and they fall down all the time bc they are so low-rise. Same with next. It seems if they fit me in the thigh-hip-leg, they give me builders bum and are borderline pornographic if I bend over. A smaller waist size seems to cut me in half and result in (ahem) an unpleasant whiff of camel toe.

Someone must know of a reasonably stylish, well cut brand and make of jeans that will fit a normalish body. Please help me, oh style gurus!

I like Paige for expensive jeans, and Uniqulo for bargain ones. I have the Uniqulo super stretch skinniest and they got really well. The Paige ones fit really well at the waist.

Hi

What style are you looking for? My current jeans love is with Whitestuff Lola Babyboot cut. For some reason they make my legs look skinny and long and for once I can actually wear a normal length top without completely worrying about my tummy or saddlebags.

Only downside is the dye rubs off until they have been washed a few times.

Fit, not got! Phone - sorry

lindaflinda76 · 18/12/2013 22:56

Not sure exactly what style- I have always worn boot cut since I was about 18, but feel that it might be possible to branch out to skinnies to look a bit more stylish. I'll have a look at the white stuff ones and Paige brand, thanks (can you get those on the high street or are they a specialist?). Off to googleGrin

Have you got an independent jeans shop near you? I've always bought cheap-ish jeans from the usual high street shops but recently went to a shop that stocks lots of different brands and it was a bit of a revaluation! So many different shapes and sizes and the assistant really knew their stuff. I'm tall so can't always get jeans long enough and also hate the low slung ones that really don't flatter the mummy tummy! I came away with the comfiest and best fitting jeans I've ever owned - and they're stylish too. They're Lee - slim leg, mid-rise. I love them and won't be going back to Next or similar for jeans again in a hurry!

I'm v keen on the gok wan jeans at sainsbos!

Pumpkintopf · 18/12/2013 23:25

I find Gap premium curved straight good, they're a straight leg so not as slim as skinnys but a bit more up to date than bootcut.

youaremychocolatecake · 18/12/2013 23:46

I like uniqlo for cheap ones but seven for all man kind are very flattering. Can't go wrong with Levi's too. If you go to an actual Levi's shop you should find something to suit Smile

youaremychocolatecake · 18/12/2013 23:47

And yes, ditch the boot cut and go straight leg or skinny. Boot cut is a bit dated now in my humble opinion

I can't praise Next lift and slim jeans enough. I get slim fit. they ate fab come right up to belly button have a control panel at the front, and magically shapes my flat bum. I have 5 pairs! I am a wobbly 16 with a mum tum and these in a 14 are amazing they are £45. they come in skinny, slim amd boot cut

monicalewinski · 19/12/2013 10:07

I was put onto a pair of jeans this week by my sister - they're ace.

New Look, high rise skinny jeans.

They've got good stretch, so a wee bit jegging-y, but they feel like proper jeans; the high rise is not 'mum jean' as the buttons make it look more stylish (high waist is good as I have small waist, big ass). They're cheap too, so will tide you over til whilst you're fluctuating sizes (I am in the same predicament at the mo!).

you need these jeans!!

A snip at £23!!

SorrelForbes · 19/12/2013 10:50

Gap high rise skinnies or Gap real straight. Very flattering, thick denim and a good price.

lindaflinda76 · 19/12/2013 15:22

Fab suggestions all, thanks. I did try the new Levi's and they looked fine- now to start getting back to my fighting weight so I can buy a new pair in a smaller size!
