My birthday is not long after Christmas so DH wanting suggestions of what to buy me. Been looking at Alex Monroe jewellery - particularly like the feather one. Then I came across this:

www.johnlewis.com/dinny-hall-almaz-elongated-lotus-triple-drop-necklace/p553090?kpid=232260353&s_kenid=3942bf8e-39a3-25c9-737d-00004dcc8194&s_kwcid=ppc_pla&tmad=c&tmcampid=73

I am ever the pragmatist - not only is it beautiful, I also think it is slightly more wearable. Or is it just dull? I can be, as well as being pragmatic, sometimes a bit "safe".

I am looking for a simple, elegant gold pendant to wear kind of "every day". I look better with more delicate stuff - and longer line rather than collar-like style.

Budget probably £200 - doed have to be gold/gold plated though - silver makes my skin look awful.

I like it fishfingers but I think if it were me I'd prefer something not plated. I have a beautiful pendant that would fit the bill and it was still stocked in beaverbrooks only a few months ago however I can't find it online now. I'll keep looking though as I'm sure it be perfect for you.

I will be honest I have the same feeling about the plated thing - but not sure I could afford/persuade DH to do something solid! (Actually, he probably would but I would feel a bit eek about the cost)

Have been looking on line but a lot of things seem a bit "fussy" IYSWIM. I have pretty, really delicate stuff, including some beautiful Edwardian stuff. Just want something "clean"

You may be lucky. There are some reasonable reductions online just now. I'm looking for something similar for myself as I have a big birthday coming up and DH would like some hints! I found this www.beaverbrooks.co.uk/0000887/9ct-Gold-Cubic-Zirconia-Pendant/p but I'm not sure it's what your after. I have however sent the link to DH for me!

I also liked this...

this too

Like both of those - particularly the second. Problem is DH's feelings (love him y'know - even though he forgot I cannot wear silver) and he recently bought me a silver swarovski (sp) necklace very similar to the top one - which I can wear over higher necklines at a push. Don't want to suggest to him something similar to something he already bought if that makes sense - he may well not notice, or he may be a bit upset.

So, anyway, to cut a long story short am steering clear of that look

But thank you, this is all very useful!

I like it but I would probably get things tangled on that necklace. I'm clumsy.

I don't have any suggestions but I do have a few too many Alex Monroe necklaces and the plating on them is fine, they still look new and I'm really not careful with them.

I'm still hunting. I figure we seem to have similar tastes so may as well link to some of the ones I'm adding to my wish list!

www.barclaysdiamonds.co.uk/9ct-yellow-gold-0-03ct-diamond-drop-pendant-p15533

www.barclaysdiamonds.co.uk/9ct-2-colour-gold-round-brilliant-cubic-zirconia-solitaire-oval-drop-pend-p15000

www.barclaysdiamonds.co.uk/9ct-2-colour-gold-round-brilliant-diamond-twist-pendant-p14850

Any use? If not I can stop! I feel like I'm on a mission for both of us now though :)

FishfingersAreOK · 17/12/2013 21:26

Ohhh, you have fab taste. Those may well have to go on my suggestion list. Silver aside (a one-off) DH is v good at choosing jewellery for me. Just give him a few rules/ideas and set him off. --though tbh I think he just goes into the nearest jewellers and get the people in the store to interpret my rules)

Not sure if you want colour but how about www.uneakboutique.co.uk/collections/gold-pendants/products/copy-of-ruby-heart-9ct-gold-pendant

That's pretty but I think I want to stay away from coloured gems. I think I'd find I'd want to coordinate what I was wearing too much with a coloured stone. It's so difficult, especially when everywhere there are white metals and not so much choice in yellow gold.
