Anything like double wear but cheaper?

Just as title says, I love my el double wear. It makes me look human and I have used it for years. But.... I am poor. Is there anything as good (with coverage that isn't cakey) that is cheaper? I'm wary of trying anything because I don't want to waste money when it's so tight.

Thank you!

Vichy Dermablend, La Roche Posay foundation, or Revlon Colourstay?

magicbiscuits · 16/12/2013 20:17

I like No 7 instant radiance. I actually think it's better than double wear which I used to use - it gives a bit more luminence.

Don't be upset that you can't afford ELDW; it's not what it was. Some MNers were kind enough to post helpful suggestions on here.

sillymillyb · 16/12/2013 20:21

Ooh thank you both, I wasn't expecting answers so quick!

This may be a stupid question but how do you try cheaper foundations when they don't have the lady at the counter to smother it on for you?!

I'd feel stupid crouching down by rimmels stand in boots putting foundation on!

I think I have a voucher for no 7 actually, so that one may be a go-er to try. I hate not having my essentials in my make up bag!

Senua I think I posted on that thread in a panic that they were going to change my beloved foundation!

I will have another look through now, thank you!

I think No 7 might be still running their colour-match service in bigger branches. I loved that - seeing on the camera exactly the colour of my jaw.

I know that a lot of MUAs really rate Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation.

Could be worth a punt OP Smile .

sillymillyb · 16/12/2013 20:28

Ooh yes! I thinking I should try the healthy mix after reason people rave about it on here!

God, my jaw is so covered in spots at the moment I'm not sure it would be fair to inflict it on the poor no 7 staff!

So you did! I was going to try Laura Mercier but couldn't find it in the shops (wanted to try-before-you-buy). I got a sample of Chanel and it is no good for me, sits in the pores. I'm thinking of the Revlon Colourstay next.

Oh yes, Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation is amazing. I use ELDW in Shell (the old, non-pink formula) for long/hot nights out, and BHM in shade 51 for daytime and short or cooler nights out. I actually prefer the finish of BHM (the coverage is very buildable, the colour is good, and it lasts a long time without separating), but like the "apply and forget" aspect of ELDW.

MincedMuffPies · 17/12/2013 00:25

No7 beautiful matt is amazing, really really good thick coverage lasts all day.

RonaldMcDonald · 17/12/2013 00:45

colourstay

squoosh · 17/12/2013 00:52

Revlon's Colorstay is a good dupe for ELDW. Just don't cake it on.
