Wedding outfit etiquette

Should I be checking with the bride if my dress is a suitable colour?

Normally I wouldn't worry (as I don't wear white to weddings) but dh is best man so we are closer than usual to the wedding party.

I also want to use the dress again for SIL's wedding. I know it will not match with her colour scheme. Is that good or bad?

Can you tell I've not been to any weddings where we are super close to the bride/ groom!?! Confused

Maybe MNHQ should produce an etiquette book! :)

So long as you're not wearing anything white / cream / black that is too short / too tight / too slutty you'll be just fine Grin

Ask dh what colour his tie / suit is though it might be nice to be wearing similar or complementary colours just so you get some nice piccies together Wink

Agree with pp, white or cream is a big no no. I was at a wedding once where a guest had a loose halterneck dress on with no bra and every time she moved her boobs fell out, probably best to try and avoid that scenario too! Apart from that just wear whatever you like!

What sweetheart said.

I would only ask if it was white/cream or black. Both are OK in my book, but then I have no desire to have a wedding or be a bride.

Thank you! :)

Dress I want is red.
Dh's best man suit is grey with sage green waistcoat.
SIL colour scheme is pastel shades.

I'm hoping to get away with one dress as both weddings are going to cost £££ and as I haven't been to a full wedding do since pre both dc I am in need of dress, shoes, etc etc etc Confused

Black is fine for a winter wedding. I was at one last weekend & there was A LOT of black dresses (mine included). It's one of those past-generation things that doesn't apply any more.
