botched ombre hair!!!

Yesterday I had my hair coloured at a salon for first time ever and now feel close to tears. I have naturally mid brown hair and in the past have always put a home red/auburn colour on but nothing for past year or so but can tell on mid to length that is has been dyed red if you know what I mean. Thought I'd treat myself to a salon colour and fancied a brown into blonde ombre- somehow I thought it looked fab yesterday- she did a great wavy blow dr that I think hid the patchyness- but today it is clearly very patchy and pretty orange looking in much of the hair that has previously had red in it. Is there any way of fixing this- I'm tempted to buy a brown dye and stick it on over but something tells me this could go very wrong??

Don't do anything yourself - go back, show the salon and ask them what they're going to do to fix it. Part of the lead-up to the colouring should have been an assessment of your hair, have you coloured it etc...
If they won't / can't fix it, they should refund your money.

I know. What makes it worse is that I was quite anxious about using someone who knew what they were doing that I went to my sister's hairdressers that she has used for years- and whose hair always looks fab- and drove down to Manchester where she lives to have it done. I live 40 miles north of Manchester so it's going to be a right pain finding the time to go back down (but I will have to I guess). I asked her several times "are you sure it won't go orange because of the previous red dye" but she assured me it would be fine!

Has anyone else had experience of hair turning orange? Trying to decide whether to ask them to put more bleach on to see if it will lighten further or to get them to put an all over brown on? Booked to go back on Wednesday.

My hair is naturally medium brown. I used to have it coloured with golden blonde highlights. A few times, the colour was ginger in places; usually where the colour had been applied lastly. So, I'd say it's either that (not left to develop long enough) or there waant enough hydrogen peroxide to 'lift' the colour.

*wasn't

Ahh I do remember her saying she was using a low % peroxide as it was gentler. Maybe that the problem- it was too gentle! Just worried as it is pretty much the whole length of hair from about ears down that is orange not just highlights if you will- can't quite imagine now how she is going to the gradual colour fade from brown to blonde that I was after Confused

They'll be able to do it, don't worry. It will be a case of toning the colour, the applying a higher % peroxide. It's really important that you insist upon what you want and tell them that this isn't the result you were after.

What I mean is, they might need to darken the orange strips first, then colour over with blonde. Not difficult Smile

Thank you. I shall try and rock the Orange till Wednesday!
