Do i need a soap and glory set? why?

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 15:09

Some of it smells ok, some smells similar to the gift sets i was given when i was around 10 and they were meant for "little girls" so not very lovely if that makes sense.

Anyway just been in boots, was nearly knocked down by the millions of women armed with as many as they can carry.

Just wondering what the fuss is really, i ended up buying one, kind of mob mentality Smile but can always take it back. whats so great about it?

You will be lucky to get one now. They normally sell out the big sets in hours.

I like a few of their things but wouldn't pay full price.

The greatest scrub off all face wash is lovely

£80 worth of stuff for £27? - Bargain. If you like the stuff that is! I love the peaches and clean cleanser and the hand food cream.

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 15:30

I did get one mike £27 it was, i use the foot file constantly so thought the rest would be good too but after smelling it now not too sure??

I dont know if its worth the massive queues this morning though.

My local boots they were queuing up out the door to get to them, i just wandered in to get some toothpaste and saw everyone diving on them, then its all over facebook too, just wondered why people go so mad over the soap and glory stuff, is it magic potion formulas and voodoo stuff to make me 20 years younger, or is it just a case of its been halved in the sale everyone must get a bargain!

I bought one last year for DD2 and have bought 2 this year for DD1 and DD2 as it was a great success. I think it's perceived to be a great bargain and I guess it makes a good present.

Personally I like the lime-scented stuff and the hand food hand cream is brilliant. I keep some on my desk and I use it all the time.

Sparklegeek · 13/12/2013 15:51

I too just asked my self this question as there were millions stacked up in my Boots. I managed to resist though I am still basking in the glory of getting lots of Buy-1-Get-Two-Free J20s in Morrisons last night

ThePortlyPinUp · 13/12/2013 15:55

I like the smell of the stuff but other than the mascara and shower creme I'd never actually use it all up, there is still some lotions in the bathroom floating around from last year Xmas Blush It is good value but I couldn't justify the expense this year.

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 16:07

I liked the fancy bag it came in if im honest, thought it was a kind of travel case but there's a cardboard box inside, and apart from the hand cream which does smell nice i dont think id use the rest. I remember getting the lipgloss thing a few years ago, it made my lips sting, as for everything else think i could do without them actually!

I like S&G and use a lot of their products but I don't feel the need to queue and buy a gift set. The stuff is always on a 3 for 2 and I just buy as and when I need it throughout the year.

They sold out online in ireland within hours today - before I could get the site to work anyway.

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 20:55

decaff if you fancy paying the postage and the £27 i paid for it your welcome to mine! Smile

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 13/12/2013 20:58

got some for my birthday.its ok nothing special.

decaffwithcream · 13/12/2013 21:14

Aww thanks Vix but I'm guessing you havent posted anything to Ireland recently.

It might be cheaper to buy one for fullprice Xmas Grin

Thats very nice of you though! You could sell it on ebay btw. there are already ones posted on there and bidding is well over £27.

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 21:18

haha,no worries, is it really that expensive though? Shock

Im going to have a look on ebay now then, was just going to take it back to boots tomorrow actually! but may make a bit of money to make the pain of queuing worth it!

Its not as bad as Ireland to UK but its fairly painful. 25 euro to post the ebay one to Ireland for example.

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 21:29

Just had a look on ebay now, oh my god, cant believe the amount they are going for? its ridiculous as someone else said theyre usually on a 3 for 2 anyway.

Ive just put an ad on facebook anyway so if someone is desperate for it they can buy it from me that way. Rather that than make money of people who are working who couldnt get to a boots!

OP posts:
decaffwithcream · 13/12/2013 21:48

I reckon thats why some people buy them in bulk. Its worse when they do it with "this years must-have toy" and sell them at hugh prices on ebay to desperate parents trying to play Santa.

Limits per customer are not the worst idea.

Vix1980 · 13/12/2013 22:02

In the boots i was in you could buy as many as you wanted, i saw gangs of women each with at least 5/6 in there trolleys, i suppose there the ones were seeing on ebay now.

Really sad for anyone who couldnt make it to get one though who really wanted it!

Only been on facebook and its already been sold to an old school friend, glad its going to someone who wanted it anyway! i know not to be taken in by the crowds next year!

alemci · 13/12/2013 22:23

i think there are too many products in there, would you use them all and would you use bag or would it just sit in your room.. saw it in Westfield today.

I like the body cream in a jar.

I bought skin care sets from M&S for mum etc as they will get used.

travailtotravel · 13/12/2013 22:51

peaches and clean - amazing face wash
their bb cream is ace
wish upon a jar is a miracle
youth boost light moisturiser good too

wood products for the price band ....

Tikkamasala · 14/12/2013 01:13

I bought the set today, was considering it for SILs Christmas but the cardboard bit got ripped and bashed on the bus home so I just opened it! I think I will keep some of the bits and use others of them as stocking fillers and extra bits for people. I tried the cleanser which seems quite nice. I do think its quite good value for £27 but I would never pay £60! I don't think they will all be sold out yet - I got mine at the boots near bond street in the evening and they had loads?

smellylittleorange · 14/12/2013 08:59

There were loads in boots in chichester 9am yesterday morning but what struck me was no one was buying it! Peaches and clean is a great cleanser but be warned it does make your skin photosensitive, I've noticed more freckles this year since using

burnishedsilver · 14/12/2013 12:53

Their hand cream smells disgusting. I threw it out because it was turning my stomach.

krankykitty · 14/12/2013 16:22

Decaffwithcream if you use Parcel motel you can get an NI address to get things posted to Ireland at price of normal UK postage
