Primark vs Next Fleece Onsies PJs

Hi! I have two girls and they both want fleece footie PJs for Christmas. I found two shops carrying them: Primark for £8-£9 and Next for £20-£23.

I am American living in England. I've never shopped Primark before and heard good and bad. Good being good on the pocketbook but bad from falling apart quickly, not washing well and the sweatshop story. I haven't really researched it myself, just word of mouth.

I have both. Next is obviously thicker and super soft but for half the price, Primark isn't all that bad. And to be honest, if you didn't have both next to one another, you won't be able to tell.

I want the PJs to last this whole year. My girls don't grow fast so it'll go that long (PJs are slightly big). My bank account says return Next ones but if Primark is going to fall apart the second week in January, then I'll "splurge". Thoughts from those who has shopped at both shops and maybe with those two shops fleece PJs?

Thank you!

Personally, I don't find Next consistently better quality at all. It's a bit hit and miss tbh. The last few things I got there wore badly, faded quite quickly. Primark could well outlast them. I would go Primark myself. Neiher of them would perfectly last the year I would think, so unless the ethical issues are a deal breaker for you I would go with my purse.

I have no idea about Next's ethics or otherwise so can't comment.

There are few high street shops with perfect ethical practices, if we really looked into it. For onesies, I'd err on the primark side.

I have had pyjamas etc from both shops.

I got ds2's xmas onsie from Next. The things hold their shape, the zips don't give up after a couple of weeks, they just look far far nicer, the fabric is better quality. The next ones will still be looking good for a full year.

If something from next fell apart in Jan or Feb I'd take it back and be confident of a refund.

DD2 is the onesie queen. For the money, the Primark ones are brilliant.
They are super soft, wash well and have lasted ages.

Next is a bit meh. Their ordinary pyjamas are better quality though but that's not what you're asking.

You can get high quality onesies from Selfridges etc but more at the £35/£50 mark. Can't remember the brand but they look adorable. Still, you could buy 4 Primark onesies for that and they have some very cute designs. DDs current favourites are the pale pink with a pug pattern on.

Bought fleece pjs for my dc from primark last winter. All still going strong. Also bought ds1 a onesie from Next, it looks super still and can be handed down. M&S might be a compromise with better ethics and cheaper? 20% code around at present. My dc were given onesies from there a few months ago, they're gorgeous!

DD's onesie is from next as she did not like any of the primark ones but she is finding the next one too hot so far and has stopped wearing it and just has a jumper.

We used to go to primark a lot when she was younger but the stuff for older children does not tend to look as nice

We couldn't get one with feet so she wears thick socks instead. Onesies without feet last longer as primark's feet lengths are not very generous
