non-slip boots?

Last year I managed to slip over and injure myself in the icy weather. I do have the strap on anti-slip wotsits, but I find them really fiddly and don't fit all my boots well. I wonder whether these boots are any good? Reviews are generally good though some say that the flip out traction is not great. Any experience of these or other similar boots?

I read an interesting article in a paper last year which says you need crepe soled shoes to avoid slipping on ice. Not bought any myself yet but keep meaning to!
