Christmas Jumper Day

This is happening at work on Friday.

I am not buying a Christmas jumper, I can't stand the waste, I don't want one and our office is boiling - I generally wear my summer clothes all year at work!

Anyway I have this sparkly crochet tunic/dress from Monsoon

I don't need to know if you like it I do and I already have it so it's too late now but could I wear it for work and call it a Christmas jumper, or would it be ridiculous?

I usually wear it with opaques and suede platform shoe boots but would dress it down a bit with flat knee high boots. What do you think?

I might have a long sleeved top I can wear under, over the strappy slip but the sleeves are probably longer than the tunic's sleeves.

Is lovely but it's nothing like a Christmas jumper. You may as well wear your regular work clothes.

Some shops that sell Christmas jumpers also have t-shirts with the same patterns.

Well, it's knitted (ok crocheted) and sparkly. Doesn't that make it a Christmas jumper?!

I don't do christmas jumpers, but have a look maybe for some nordic design top/jumper thingy? I saw some nuce ones somewhere.

My "Christmas jumper" is a sparkly one with sequins in it. So I would say to go with it. Dh and the dc are all in-your-face jumper wise.

I know it's not a proper Christmas jumper really but I'm not going to buy something just for one day. I don't mind being different but I'd rather not be ridiculous. I'm not sure where this would sit?!

The alternative is to try and trim something I already have with tinsel....

Pin a bit of tinsel on it! I would wear it and wouldn't bother buying one just for the day. Better to donate the money you would have spent imo.

I don't see any problem with a sparkly jumper and possibly some Daft ratings or a tinsel scarf.

I also wouldn't necessarily buy a snow man for one day.

Christmas jumpers are casual. You'll look like you've received a completely different memo to the rest of the office.

Why on earth can't a sparkly jumper, styled with, say black jeans and flat boots not be made casual and christmasy.

I certainly could dress down my sequin top.

Search Google images for Christmas jumpers. It's more of a novelty thing than a jumper you'd actually choose to wear.

Not Monsoon knitwear. Obviously the OP can wear whatever she wants but I'd spend a tenner on a naff jumper and join in.

Primark has a good selection for around £10 or t shirt versions for less.

I can see the point here - if you're not going to wear something again why spend money on it? If the purpose of the day is to raise money for charity, why not give that money to charity rather than Primark?

Up to you not to wear a 'special' jumper and give money instead, but that, though nice, certainly isn't a Christmas jumper - would look more as if you're off to the office evening party. Think you'd feel uncomfortable.

Just wear a red or green top trim with a bit of tinsel or get some daft reindeer horns or similar. Then you've played the game but not spent out and you'll look like you've made an effort.
