If You Use Eyelash Dye...

Does it sting? I did it once years ago and it was an unmitigated disaster, stung like hell and left me with black blobs.

Have things moved on? Is the formula kinder to eyes? Which one should I buy and does it actually make any noticeable difference?

Just don't get it in your eyes and it's fine!!

Ditto, it is fine. My personal fave is the Eyelure one in black; I tend to do it last thing at night because it can sometimes make your eyes feel very tired. Also, place a muslin cloth over your pillowcase as sometimes it doesn't always come off.

I have only used dylash dye and it does sting if it goes in your eyes. I think that would be the case for any hair dye.
The answer for me is to apply it very carefully to the ends of. My eyelashes. I have sometimes used a cotton bud instead of the applicator as it seems to put on less dye and not clump as much.
I have very dark brown hair and my eyelashes are only light at the tips so I never apply right down to the base of the lash, just to about 3/4 of the way down.
I have used black and dark brown and both come out extremely dark, even for me with dark hair. I usually put a tiny bit on my eyebrows and wipe it off after 5 minutes - they look awful if too dark) then leave the lash dye on for about 10.
Use a mirror close up, like a small hand mirror if possible mad you can put Vaseline below your lashes to prevent that area being dyed. Also cotton buds are great for clearing up mistakes.
If it goes in your eye rinse and rinse for 5 mins and it should be ok, bit a bit tender.
