help! Christmas party outfit

I've foolishly agreed to go to DH's Christmas do next Friday. It is straight after work for him and his colleagues, and it's at a relatively swanky restaurant.

I have no clue what the dress code is, probably not as smart as black tie.

I have relatively few nice clothes except for work ones and I'm carrying about 10kg of baby lard.

I've uploaded a few outfit ideas, please be brutally honest. I could probably justify buying a new top or jacket but not trousers or a dress as there seems little point where when I'm hoping to get back into shape.

If it's casual I've got 2 pairs of reasonable jeans: indigo high waisted skinnies and dark blue denim straight/boot leg.

red/blue skirt combo

southeastastra · 06/12/2013 20:08

or beige top/trousers in bottom right if more casual/comfortable. do you have a walk in wardrobe?? Envy

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/12/2013 20:12

Green dress but with the shoes you're wearing in the tunic pic?

Antidote · 06/12/2013 20:18

Ooh, thank you!

The skirt and top combo is definitely a tried and trusted outfit. I think I wore it to my work Christmas do last year.

I'm wearing the same shoes in all the pics- shoe boot type thing on the left & plain high heeled black on the right!

I never wear the green dress. It just always seems too dressy or too casual.

Yes, I do have a walk in wardrobe. It came by accident with the new house!

Not the shoe boots then; t'other ones!

burnishedsilver · 06/12/2013 20:38

I like the 4th picture.

Antidote · 06/12/2013 20:49

Looks like the skirt might be getting another outing!

I might see if I can find a new top to go with it. The ones I have are a bit clingy round the middle.

I like the tunic/dress and trews combo.... Top middle?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/12/2013 21:00

Tunic and skinnies would be my second choice.

Antidote · 06/12/2013 21:10

Brilliant. Thanks everyone, skirt and top if smart, tunic and skinnies if more casual.
