Short hairstyles?

I'm quite large and have really long thick hair, which falls out all the time, there's hair everywhere I've been! I have a pain condition too which when I'm tired causes my skin to get massively over sensitive to the point where I can't bear my hair to touch my skin, meaning that it is 99% of the time either in a high pony or a bun and I'll probably be laughed out of style and beauty for admitting that it's up in a scrunchie every day!
I need to cut it all off, I've had it short a couple of times before with varying success, the first time it was really short, I chose the style from the male book... I then dyed it bright red and looked like jimmy krankie until I could grow it out, I had it long for a couple of years then cut it all off and dyed it blond, I had various reactions but the two main ones which were repeated often was that I looked like either Clare balding or mo mowlem.
I really want to try again and my hair grows really fast so even if I had a crew cut and hated it it would be almost shoulder length again in six months. I don't really want a crew cut though.

I just want a total change from horrid hair.
I'd be grateful for any ideas of styles? I have a rather round face and hair dyed black so can't really dye over it.

There's a gorgeous one on there, I've put a pic on, do you think that it'd suit someone rather well padded?
Poor Dh loves long hair so he's wandered off looking sad after I told him I want it all off, he shaved his sexy beard off and looks about 15 though so his argument is invalid. Xmas Grin Thanks

I have pretty much exactly the same hairstyle as the first one you posted - the very short crop with the longer fringe. I absolutely love it and it is a dream to look after. My hair is thick and frizzes easily when long, but this cut always looks good.

However - I am petite with a little face. I think it would work on you but you would need to leave the fringe quite long to offset a rounder face maybe?? Or have a little length which you could tuck behind your ears?

Dillydollydaydream · 06/12/2013 17:38

I like the asymetric(?) hairstyle. I think short hairstyles are flattering if you're 'padded' Xmas Grin
You can add height easily which balances your shape.

I'm quite large and have a severely short haircut. It works because I have a big skull so lots of hair makes me look even bigger. I suggest you find a hairdresser who specialises in short hair. If you live or work in London, Margaret at CV Hair in Bloomsbury is fantastic.

I'm in Yorkshire, and poor lol
I have a mobile hairdresser who is the only one apart from me mnhaircut ftw to touch my hair.
I've had the same style for ages and it's getting boring now.

I've got really thick dark hair and love having mine short. These are some of the styles that I've taken to the hairdresser for inspiration

Oh oh oh! Google "lost in a spotless mind pixie" click on the first thing that comes up then scroll to the bottom!

DIddled · 08/12/2013 00:42

Oh shopaholic thanks so much! I have had my longish hair cut into a short bob but I want to go shorter as it suits me 'off my face' these have given me some good ideas!!

DrinkFromSantasFountain · 08/12/2013 01:13

I think I'm going to go for it! I don't want a pixie cut as it's too short at the front, I'm thinking more like the pic I posted with the fringy bit and short at the back, it's going to have to be after Christmas though, Dh is a bit upset and doesn't want me to cut it (he doesn't have to carry it all round and wash and brush it) so I think I'll pay for it with my Christmas money then he can't comment.

Could you not compromise with DH maybe. Don't cut it all off, just a bit and do it gradually in stages. It is important that you like the way you look but I think its also important to look good and attractive to our DHs. After all we are with them because of that attraction.

AmandaMartin · 17/12/2013 07:09

I guess you must try [[ www.naturalbraid.com/
fluffy twist hair]]..It may favorably works for you..Try them .... .

inamerrymuckingfuddle · 17/12/2013 07:16

I have mine in the style you posted, I love it. However, remember it will need cutting every 5-6 weeks to retain the shape. If you're near a city you could try somewhere like this for a cheaper option.

StarsUponThars · 17/12/2013 07:21

Bloody hell MillyChristmas, it's not 1950 any more Grin.

Go for it OP, the styles that others have linked to are fab. I love my short hair (pixie cut though).

inamerrymuckingfuddle · 17/12/2013 07:26

Stars is right! DH pulled faces when I talked about getting mine cut, I did it anyway and he loves it. It's your hair!
