Is it better to go to a piercing/tattoo studio or somewhere like Claire's (but not necessarily Claire's) or go to a beauty salon?

Have any of you got recommendations?

Piercing/tattoo studio - without question.

Jewelery shops are good.

Presumably, Claire's, Jewellery shops and beauty salons will all use the gun device.

I've got a few piercings (mostly done with guns), though my one cartilage piercing was done in a piercing studio. I know that the gun method is fairly painless in lobes - my cartilage hurt but I guess that's because it was cartilage. Have any of you had lobes done in a piercing studio?

We used Claires and found them to be really good. 2 girls did the piercing, one on each ear, so there was no backing out once one ear had been done.

We got some sterile solution and an aftercare leaflet.

How old is DD1? When DD got her ears pierced I struggled to find a piercing studio that didn't just use a gun for ears anyway and when I did they wouldn't pierce children under 12 (DD was 11). I took her to my beautician who I trust implicitly, but who uses a gun. The environment was nice and private and at least it was someone DD knew. No issues at all with the piercings.

She's 8 and a half. Ah - OK. I'll speak to the studio here and see what they say. I've never had an issue with piercings with a gun myself, I'd just read something here previously (don't really remember what, now) that prompted me to ask.

There's information on the Claire's website about ear piercing if it's of any help
