My Channel Rouge Noir nail varnish has ran out.

It was a gift and has been my nail staple. I never used to bother but I will miss it.
I'm looking for a super low budget nail varnish. I want something classic, similar colour.
Any suggestions?

Is this any help?

KungFuBustle · 29/11/2013 23:40

I even spelt Chanel wrong! Can you tell I'm not usually a brand woman.

Will take a look. They look lovely but the like of D&G are well out of my budget. I'm still hoping to find some in the pound shop after my CC eye shadow win.

I find Essie Wicked to be a good dupe: www.superdrug.com/essie/essie-nail-polish-wicked/invt/437063

£7.99 so not super low budget but far better value than the Chanel IMHO, which I find chips terribly.

MinesaBottle · 30/11/2013 00:57

Nails Inc Victoria is very similar, so similar that when I recently got a bottle of Rouge Noir I felt I'd wasted my money! Perhaps I can send you my Rouge Noir? Seriously - pm me. I actually prefer Victoria as it lasts longer!

Elizabeththefirst · 30/11/2013 01:34

Barry M are quite good and only 3 or 4 pounds.

KungFuBustle · 30/11/2013 11:09

I couldn't mines a bottle, but thank you for the offer Thanks

Going to have a peep on Amazon and check out prices. Have to get something ready for Christmas or I'll b hiding my tatty nails in the turkey!

I've got a Barry M one called black red (do you see what they did there?) which I think is a good knock off.

bunnymother · 30/11/2013 12:58

Revlon do a similar one. Vamp, I think it's called.

Skinheadmermaid · 30/11/2013 13:26

Barry m have a shade called red wine that is very similar. Its 2.99 a bottle.
If this isn't quite dark enough for you they also have red black but i haven't personally tried that.
They also have a very dark red matt nail varnish called crush but this might be a bit brown for you.
Topshop also have dozens of shapes including a very dark red, they are typically 5 or 6 quid a bottle.

MrsDoomsPatterson · 30/11/2013 13:30

I wear Rimmel Pro in celebrity Bash. You wouldn't know the difference.

MissScatterbrain · 30/11/2013 13:48

One of my favourite nail polish colours Smile

I have Barry M's wine red and its a dark red rather than rouge noir. As Amber says their black red one is a much better match. Rimmel's Black Cherries is also another good knock off.

MissScatterbrain · 30/11/2013 13:51

Rimmel's celebrity bash is another dark red - black cherries is a closer match to rouge noir.

JemimaMuddledUp · 30/11/2013 14:08

Maybelline Colour Show in Burgundy is a very dark red and is less than a fiver. With a base coat and top coat it lasts for a week too.

lookatmybutt · 30/11/2013 15:56

I had a squiz on the internet for you and it looks like the best dupe hands down is Revlon's Vixen:

chikisnails.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/chanel-rouge-noir-vs-revlon-vixen.html

It also looks like Ciate's Paparazzi might be really close. I think I have that one, but I'm too poor to afford Chanel (plus I got the lipstick version and it was shit, to put it bluntly):

nail-ru.livejournal.com/2221053.html?thread=67622397

That Russian blog seemed to have the nicest pictures but Ciate is a UK company. Here is their website:

Mavala polish is excellent short brush for ease of application .
Think it is about 3-50 a pot.
Great staying power
I love Elle shade just now but they have lots including a rouge noir lookalike.

hollyisalovelyname · 30/11/2013 20:01

I second Mavala. Very underated brand that has been doing nail products long before the OPI and Essies of this world ( I think).
I find Essie really watery.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 30/11/2013 20:10

Max Factor Ruby Fruit is very close Ruby Fruit. £5.99 and lasts really well.

KungFuBustle · 30/11/2013 20:32

Thanks all. Will be pointing DH in the right direction for my Xmas stocking.

Pound shop had a load of lovely Loreal Paris in recently as well as the CK cream eye shadow. Lovely colours but nothing that will replace the rouge.

Another vote for Rimmel Celebrity Bash. Plus Rimmel ones wear really well - much better than Chanel anyway.
