I've just been really ill and have lost about a stone. I was happy being curvy and bought a velvet dress for Christmas but it doesn't fit me any more :( Everything is baggy - I don't have the money for a whole new wardrobe. I think I'm still losing weight. Would it be silly of me to try and put some of the weight back on for the sake of clothes?

What size were you to start with? If you were overweight surely it would be unhealthy to regain it?

PaulMcGannsMistress · 29/11/2013 18:04

I wasn't really overweight, I was a size 14. I'm about a size 10 again now. I know I should probably be chuffed.

Yes I think it would be silly to try & put weight on if you're a size 10. Presuming you're not super tall & you are at a healthy weight.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 29/11/2013 18:07

Yup, I thought so. :( What the hell do I do with my clothes?

try taking some of the simple shape things in yourself otherwise take them to a tailor (even just one in a dry cleaners) and ask them to take stuff in for you. a lot cheaper than buying a new wardrobe and if you get a few bits done, you can try to do a deal with them :)

PoshPenny · 29/11/2013 18:10

Why don't you buy a sewing machine and take them in?

AngryFeet · 29/11/2013 18:12

To be honest if you were ill you will probably put a fair bit back on when you start eating normally to dont rush to adjust your clothes!

fieldfare · 29/11/2013 18:14

Find someone to take them in for you. There are 2 really nice ladies local to me that are happy to do minor alterations on clothes. There's bound to be someone near you.

PaulMcGannsMistress · 29/11/2013 18:18

I'll leave it a few weeks then and see what happens to my weight when I'm eating normally. Hadn't thought about getting some bits altered, thanks.

If your previous size was your normal weight, it should gradually return if/when you are healthy, and eating normally, and its not silly to want to regain it - you were happy with how you looked and not overweight. Do you know why you are still losing? Hope you feel better soon.
