Pearls......?

So.....I've been wearing pearl earrings recently....I'd quite like a necklace. I'm 39. Still quite youthful and silly, not much gravitas yet.

Apparently it makes your skin glow! More pattering on my skin than silver apparently!

Yay? Nay?

Dh thinks it would b v ageing, and I'd like an entire string! Princess length!

Bad move?

I love pearls - fake sadly - but I am similar age and have been wearing them for 20 years I'd go for it I do not think wearing pearls makes me look older just more glam! x

Pearl don't make your skin glow, that's just sales patter.

I have a lovely set that DH bought me. I would never have chosen them myself. I have to wear them with the right outfit to avoid them looking frumpy so they're not very versatile.

I've just been bought a string for my 30th. I can totally rock them Grin

It's not unique, but pearls and a cashmere jumper are my plan for next year. I'm not a trendsetter Wink

I'm in my 20s and have a set of dusky pink pearl earrings and a necklace. I wear them all the time and I don't feel old or frumpy! I think of pearls as classic and timeless.

PeriPathetic · 28/11/2013 21:23

The right pearls DO make your skin glow. It's down to the colour and the lustre. My favourites are Tahitians and Akoyas, others suit freshwater or South Sea. All depends on your colouring and the shade of the pearls (and budget!).

My plastic ones look great on me, they really do seem to lighten up my neck....but then this is why old ladies love them!

Are smaller better? Less frumpy?

I hate pendants, like simple jewellery, really either it's a string of pearls or a diamond cut choker of some description....
