Avon - what should I order?

Have to place an order from Avon this weekend for various reasons and thought I might try some things since I have never shopped there. They have some real bargains at the moment, it looks like, so I thought I might try the argan oil hair stuff. What else do people like from Avon?

I have a friend who is an Avon rep and is always asking me if want to order anything. To be honest the only things I buy are their dry ends hair serum - it works really well but is usually on offer so is only about £2 a bottle, which is a bargain - and their children's detangle spray - also really good and cheap!

I can't wear Avon make up or face creams/cleansers etc as I seem to be highly allergic to them - don't know why as I'm not allergic to any other make up (no matter how cheap and cheerful!).

I like the eye brow pencils and they do some lovely perfumes that smell a lot more expensive than they are. Don't like the nail polishes though. I don't tend to buy the make up anymore as it is always a hit and a miss.

If I must some skin so soft dry oil spray for holidays.

Also their hair stuff.

Rare Diamonds perfume smells like SJP Lovely. Avoid the Today, Tomorrow Alwasy range of scent. They're horrible.

Quick touch is a leave in conditioner which is very good.

The men's fragrances are excellent, even on women.

Some of the jewellery sets are pretty.

Oh and the eyeliner- "glimmersticks" are overrated and always smudge and come off after two hours.

treaclesoda · 28/11/2013 14:25

I've had success with a mascara recently, I think it's calked Infinitize or something like that. Nice long lashes, doesn't smudge, isn't too thick and gloopy.

The Dead Sea Spa range (think that's what it's called, it's something along those lines) has some nice products, they feel and smell much more expensive than they are.

Avon is quite hit and miss, I find, but there are some good offers, so if they coincide with the products you like, you can stock up on enough to see you through the next six months.

I'm not a fan of their make up but I buy the Dry Oil body spray when they're on offer. I also love the Supershock Mascara, it makes my spindly little eyelashes look really full.

Some of their perfumes are lovely, Pur Blanca is a nice day scent.

Don't buy:

The perfumes - they smell like toilet cleaner. If you want nice cheap scents, try M&S
The lipsticks - they can be good, but it's VERY hit or miss and they will often be a different colour to what you expect
Jewellery - overpriced tat, try ebay instead

OK:

Eyeshadows - are usually OKish, but often underpigmented for the price. MUA and Sleek are much better.
Underwear - my mum likes it, I don't much care for it myself

Good:

Supershock gel eyeliner pencil - very black and stays on forever without budging
Nailwear Pro+ main range - good quality in a wide range of colours, but I'd stay away from the effects ones like the opal topcoat

You can get reviews from makeupalley.

Okay - thanks everyone, some great tips here!

The freeze dry nail spray is a must for me. Dries nails in one minute. I also like their nailwear pro, they do lovely colours.

The jewellery looks nice in the pictures but when you read the description it always states "acrylic stones" aka plastic, yuksville.

The supershock mascara is good but was very much let down by the waterproof version.

I like the BB tinted moisturiser but can't wear it for long.

The eye clinical lift serum and cream (split tub) is good.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 29/11/2013 11:45

Great - sounds like the dry oil body spray is a favourite and the nail pro stuff. I love the idea of the supershock gel eyeliner never coming off! Might get the dry ends hair serum or the quick touch leave in conditioner, sounds good and my hair looks like straw lately.
