Nail peoples - red/black polish help

I got a little bottle of Orly Naughty
Looks like this
I love the colour (am normally a light polish girl) but after a base coat, two coats of this and a top coat it chipped within the hour.
Are there any similar polishes in this sort of colour that stay put?

Chanel Rouge Noir is similar but nicer and doesn't chip.

I googled Orly and it's cheap and cheerful - imo you get what you pay for with nail polish. The cheap stuff always chips easily!

Maybelline forever strong is as good as pricier polishes as they do a dark red.

ElizabethBathory · 27/11/2013 17:28

Essie Wicked

OPI black cherry chutney (has v slight shimmer which makes it even nicer IMO)

SirRaymondClench · 27/11/2013 17:28

Ooh I will have to check those out. Bunny I had heard of the Rouge Noir but have never tried Chanel polishes, I'm only just getting into my nails to be honest.
I have a couple of Maybelline ones Hermione and they are great, very thick and strong. Will have to have a look at the colours as I love this red/black colour and that's what I'm looking for right now.

YY to Black Cherry Chutney!

I have it on right now!

ElizabethBathory · 27/11/2013 17:33

IME experience Essie and OPI are the longest lasting. Chanel is lovely but doesn't last any longer on me than those. Essie is in boots and superdrug for £7.99 and I get OPI off Amazon and eBay for £6-8 usually. All other brands have disappointed me, apart from Barry M, which is great quality for the price. I'm sure they do a red/black colour too.

Rouge Noir.

MissScatterbrain · 27/11/2013 18:33

Barry M has a polish called red black - not tried that although I have loads of the other colours.

I have Rimmel black cherries which is similar to rouge noir. Doesn't chip but then I am pretty careful to use a top coat etc.

SirRaymondClench · 27/11/2013 18:57

Blimey I can see this is going to be a bit of a hobby for me Grin
I will get the Essie one tomorrow and start from there, will put the Chanel one on my Christmas pressie list. I love this colour and have always traditionally steered clear of dark polish because I thought made my fingers look fat

No7 Gel Shine in Deep Wine. I am v impressed with colour and how it lasts and I normally don't like No7 nail varnish.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 27/11/2013 20:05

I love Essie - I have sole mate which is a good dark red.

With 2 coats and a top coat (Sally Hansen) it lasts for at least 5 days before chipping slightly at nail ends. I always wipe my nails with polish remover before the first coat which seems to help.

I also have Chanel Rouge Noir and whilst the colour is beautiful it doesn't go on as evenly as the Essie.
