Is this jumper hideous?

I think it might be. I am so rubbish at buying jumpers. We are far far north, and I need to be warm. Please can anyone point me in the direction of some nice jumpers? (Have poor shopping abilities generally and am quite frumpy)

I like it.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/11/2013 11:13

Thunbs up - although for warmth the neck is a tad low, you'd want a scarf with that outdoors.

polyhymnia · 26/11/2013 11:20

It's not my personal taste and I'm not a fan of M and S Indigo in general, but I don't think it's hideous.

polyhymnia · 26/11/2013 11:21

For jumpers you could also look at Boden, Poetry and Wrap - last two have sales on.

Skinheadmermaid · 26/11/2013 11:26

I don't personally like it but i don't think it's hideous. It's okay.

ElizabethBathory · 26/11/2013 11:31

It's not hideous - I quite like it! But it's made of mostly acrylic and cotton so it's not going to be warm.

Bexicles · 26/11/2013 11:32

It's okay, it looks comfy. I've just ordered this www.stories.com/Ready-to-wear/Knitwear/Wool_sweater_w_polo_neck/582940-1311374.1 am hoping it will keep me warm, it's freezing here too!

ElizabethBathory · 26/11/2013 11:36

Pure wool fair isle, very reasonable price. Crew Clothing often have nice ones in wool too, more expensive though.

PrimalLass · 26/11/2013 11:41

Not keen. And it might shed the mohair everywhere.

MissMilbanke · 26/11/2013 11:44

Funnily enough thats on the mannequin as you enter my local M&S.

DH was moved to comment that somehow they have managed to make a jumper which looked gorgeous on the model in the accompanying photograph totally dumpy in real life !

LatinForTelly · 26/11/2013 11:59

Ooh thanks for all the replies, and the tips. I've tried Boden in the past; they are quite pricey and I don't find they wash well. I might look again though.

I love the Wrap stuff but their sludgy colours, although I like them, make me look like I am half-dead. I'll have a look at the links from Bexicles and ElizabethBathory, thanks.

Yes, MissMilbanke, I am a size 8 and it makes me look dumpy. I had a voucher and I am desperate for jumpers so I bought it (but can take it back).

Many thanks everyone.

If you're going for warmth AND style, then it's slim-fitting cardigans all the way IMO.

I've never seen a jumper that's looks good with a bosom underneath.

LatinForTelly · 26/11/2013 12:11

I don't have much of a bosom tbh, SaucyJack Grin

I too like slim-fitting cardigans but they're just not warm enough at the moment.

Maybe I should invest in proper thermal undies instead.

Love the Crew stuff but, wow, it's expensive isn't it?

Sorry - I think it is hideous. It's like something the ugly sister/to be turned into a swan would wear in a Hollywood film.
Sorry. Sad

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 26/11/2013 12:40

I think its ok but its expensive for what it is iykwim?

What about New Look Cream Heart Fairisle Longline Jumper for £29?

Or Next Fairisle Pattern Handknit Sweater

Or Black Fairisle Pattern Sweater

SpookyRestingFace · 26/11/2013 16:55

It won't be that warm, given the fabric content. I'd go and have a browse on Woolovers - same price point, but proper wool.

zanz1bar · 26/11/2013 20:14

I got this what I call my 'over jumper' it is huge! very warm and can be pulled on over just about all my other jumpers.
Good for layering around the house when I am feeling stingy and refusing to put the heating on during the day.

ziggiestardust · 26/11/2013 20:16

Hmmm. I think it's something that looks nicer on the web page than it will on. I frequently make that mistake!

flippingebay · 26/11/2013 20:17

Looks ok ish on the model but, I think any normal person would look like they were wearing an old Xmas jumper

VworpVworp · 26/11/2013 20:45

Oh- elizabethbathory- the woollovers jumpers are fab, thank you! Such a reasonable price too Smile unfortunately , now I don;t know which colour to go with

ElizabethBathory · 27/11/2013 09:01

Tricky one vworp, I think the rich rose, blueberry and grey all look gorgeous. I am tempted but don't neeeed a new jumper..

bunnymother · 27/11/2013 10:07

Another vote against the jumper. It's not nice (especially that material, which I think will look tatty very quickly). I would keep looking.

Fairylea · 27/11/2013 10:13

I love it. I nearly brought it myself and then realised I'm broke! :)

Dawndonnaagain · 27/11/2013 11:18

Bexicles I'm loving that Ready to Wear site. My credit card may not!
Have you ordered from them before? Are they reliable?
Thanks, in anticipation.
