Really warm long parka type coat - preferably shower proof

Well, just that really. I have an old parka from Next and it's great, but not really warm enough for when I walk the 2.5 mile round trip school run. I tend to drive if it's raining, but obviously there is the potential for getting caught in the rain unexpectedly.

Has anyone seen one that might fit the bill? I'm rubbish at this type of thing.

Fat Face Florry?

I've got the seasalt plant hunter parka, which has been fab so far. Also out of stock in a 12, but I know other places sell them. Maybe in stock elsewhere?

SunnyRandall · 28/11/2013 11:49

I have just bought the Fat Face Florry and I love it. Highly recommended.

I love my Merrell Haven II

PenguinsDontEatPancakes · 28/11/2013 12:18

Ooh, thanks everybody. I had obviously been posting on far too many threads because this had dropped down 'I'm on' and I didn't realise I'd had more replies. Thanks.

The Seasalt one might be worth a look if I can get to a John Lewis. I think that they stock Seasalt these days, don't they? Sadly out of stock online right up to a 16. Although I could try a 14 (I do like plenty of room for layers underneath) a 16 would be pushing it.

Can definitely get to a Fat Face and try on the Florry. It looks really warm, but i'm a bit worried I'll look like the Michelin man in a puffa style. I see other people in them, but for some reason I've always steered clear.

Also loving the Merrell. I love duffel coats, but I'd always assumed you wouldn't get one that was a bit weather resistant. Is it really warm Sorrel?

Thanks again. Some great ideas to get me going.

Fat Face Penny?

SorrelForbes · 28/11/2013 18:18

The merrell is very warm indeed. I've worn it in winter in Austria!

Zara

I have the seasalt janelle in navy - it's lovely and warm - so-oooo cosy.
Im usually a 14 but I got the 16 for a bit of room. I'm 5"7" and it's a good fit for my height. I went onto their website and looked up shops near me (East mids) and found several closeby and rang them to check if they'd got it in and asked them to hold it for me - it saved me trekking into the city to j Lewis's
