Is this top 'mumsy'?

I am going out for a meal with friends next week and am planning on wearing this top in teal with a pair of black jeggings and leopard-print court shoes.

Does the top look mumsy? I am a tall size 16 and need baggy tops like this to hide my muffin top Blush

I would prefer to have my arms covered but would not mind if they weren't if the top looked nice Smile

I have quite nice boobs aswell so would be quite happy if it was low-cut Grin

Phase Eight do jersey tops with a drape effect. Have a look on their website, they have good sales.

This is lovely irl and a bargain for silk I nearly bought it today but it was too long at the back for me. Colour is lovely.

spookyskeleton · 24/11/2013 19:44

What about this?

Phase Eight

Bradsplit · 24/11/2013 19:47

the back bit IS odd

annhathaway · 24/11/2013 19:47

I think the batwing sleeves make larger people look larger because they make the waist and hips and shoulders look all the same width.

Something more fitted, longer and with maybe a ruched midriff to hide your tummy might be better,

NearTheWindmill · 24/11/2013 19:47

I like the shape of the top you chose OP but not the heart. Don't like the shirt. I'm hopeless at links but am probably not a dissimilar shape and size to you you. I find the White Stuff quite good and paradoxically have some bits from Per Una that are remarkably well designed to hide the tum and muffin although are much derided on here.

CeliaFate · 24/11/2013 19:47

That link is the original top you posted Spooky.

Asos Curve £21

I picked one with long sleeves but have a look through all the tops, there are some pretty ones!

spookyskeleton · 24/11/2013 19:49

Don't know where you're going but for a normal meal out in a restaurant as opposed to a formal 'do' some of these (see through etc )look quite a lot OTT .

What about this? Might get it myself!

WipsGlitter · 24/11/2013 19:52

That eBay one is awful. Grandads vest underneath!

pickles184 · 24/11/2013 19:56

I'm a tall 14-16 post pregnancy, I've got this
www.next.co.uk/x5248s3#875098x52
top in both colours and wear a longline slinky vest underneath to cover tummy/top of hips. Love wearing them with straight cut jeans and heels personally. Sorry can't link properly as phone playing up.

MyNameIsWinkly · 24/11/2013 19:56

I think this top would look fantastic, especially with the leopard print shoes.

spookyskeleton · 24/11/2013 19:56

Wips I do like that Little Mistress one Smile may order that one.

Poly it is just a meal out but it is kind of like an informal Christmas party with some friends and we will probably end up in a pub so I would like to look quite dressy.

OP posts:
scarlettsmummy2 · 24/11/2013 19:59

It's a bit tacky, especially with lack leggings. I would go for a nice dress.

Bradsplit · 24/11/2013 20:02

id do a plain black top meself

polyhymnia · 24/11/2013 21:38

Sorry if it's a restaurant then a pub still think it would be better to be stylish but not too overstated. Like the black top idea. Or a dress but nothing see through or sparkly or flash.
