Can anyone recommend a really warm (insulated?) onesie with a hood - that goes up to plus size? Infuriatingly I'm about a 16 but have a massive arse and thighs.

I know, I know, they're gross; but I seriously do live in the coldest house of all time and work from home, and can't really afford to have the central heating on all day.

The internet's full of the blighters but most of them look very thin and a bit pointless. Can't afford to be too choosy on the style but I do like the whole Aztec and Fair Isle look.

Ok, some keep warm tips from freezing squatty days: hot water bottles. Have a sheepskin or good thick rug under your feet, loads of socks and slippers that also cover your ankles. Water bottle under or on footsies coz if you can keep your feet warm you are half way there. Hats! Felt, wool, army with earflaps, whatever but cover your head! Fingerless gloves.. you can type and write but your hands will not freeze off.
Vests... yes do as your mum or nan told you, wear a vest. Not a short one but one that you can tuck in. And then just add the layers, long cardies and stuff. You can get great woolens at charity shops sometimes.
If your study is too big to heat, hang drapes to make a small space (again, charity shop for curtains and blankets) Make it an alladin cave, all cozy and warm.

One that is some seriously good advice - especially about the hot water bottle...I could put one under my desk and rest my feet on it - that would make my evenings SO much nicer.

I've just bought a load of thermal stuff from m&s - revolutionary. And the most ugly pair of boots I ever saw from ecco, but wool lined gore tex and are actually the most warm comfy thing I ever put on my feet.

Still eyeing up onesies but so far have managed to just walk on by.

Hi jacking this thread a bit but along the same lines. I saw a woman in a onesie today in the shop and couldn't help thinking that it looked like a giant sleepsuit or baby grow. It really looked as if she'd just got out of bed and slipped her Uggs on and a hat.

Are they meant to be worn outside? I can understand the comfort factor and lounging about in them but to me it just looked like sleep wear.

Personally I would never wear one, but yes, they are warm and cosy.
I would rather wear lots of layers.
As long as people don't wear them out though..that's just being lazy.

I do have some warm slipper booty things as my feet and ankles get very cold.

Still not so keen on the onesie (and have a seriously cold house (and slightly tight (but otherwise lovely) husband...)). I'm in the pyjamas or dressed camp myself and over the years have found the layers that work for me. But I will defend to the death your right to commit fashion hari kari in decent warmth!

I'm losing interest in mine. Take up faaaar too much cupboard/ drawer space (fleece ones) and are annoying when going to loo in night. Also footed ones get annoying as pull too tightly length-wise. Loved them for a couple of months though.

superlambanana & coumarin Asda have some maternity ones on-line, haven't noticed any instore, but then wouldn't be looking in the maternity wear, so they may well stock them, so it may be worth a look there.
