Don't judge me but I want a onesie

Can anyone recommend a really warm (insulated?) onesie with a hood - that goes up to plus size? Infuriatingly I'm about a 16 but have a massive arse and thighs.

I know, I know, they're gross; but I seriously do live in the coldest house of all time and work from home, and can't really afford to have the central heating on all day.

The internet's full of the blighters but most of them look very thin and a bit pointless. Can't afford to be too choosy on the style but I do like the whole Aztec and Fair Isle look.

Thanks in advance for not taking the piss Grin

superlambanana & coumarin Asda have some maternity ones on-line, haven't noticed any instore, but then wouldn't be looking in the maternity wear, so they may well stock them, so it may be worth a look there.

I'm losing interest in mine. Take up faaaar too much cupboard/ drawer space (fleece ones) and are annoying when going to loo in night. Also footed ones get annoying as pull too tightly length-wise. Loved them for a couple of months though.

Oh, but not outside your own home EVER

Thank you folks. I've really enjoyed this thread.
Still not so keen on the onesie (and have a seriously cold house (and slightly tight (but otherwise lovely) husband...)). I'm in the pyjamas or dressed camp myself and over the years have found the layers that work for me. But I will defend to the death your right to commit fashion hari kari in decent warmth!

Personally I would never wear one, but yes, they are warm and cosy.
I would rather wear lots of layers.
As long as people don't wear them out though..that's just being lazy.

I do have some warm slipper booty things as my feet and ankles get very cold.

Hi jacking this thread a bit but along the same lines. I saw a woman in a onesie today in the shop and couldn't help thinking that it looked like a giant sleepsuit or baby grow. It really looked as if she'd just got out of bed and slipped her Uggs on and a hat.

Are they meant to be worn outside? I can understand the comfort factor and lounging about in them but to me it just looked like sleep wear.

I've just bought a load of thermal stuff from m&s - revolutionary. And the most ugly pair of boots I ever saw from ecco, but wool lined gore tex and are actually the most warm comfy thing I ever put on my feet.

Still eyeing up onesies but so far have managed to just walk on by.

Oooh, a merino vest! Envy

Yeah, felt a bit bad about taking the piss and I do hate the cold myself as well. Horrible being too cold to think.
good luck!

One that is some seriously good advice - especially about the hot water bottle...I could put one under my desk and rest my feet on it - that would make my evenings SO much nicer.

I have just started wearing a vest - my lovely sister sent me a long merino wool one ... from Australia Grin Grin Grin

Ok, some keep warm tips from freezing squatty days: hot water bottles. Have a sheepskin or good thick rug under your feet, loads of socks and slippers that also cover your ankles. Water bottle under or on footsies coz if you can keep your feet warm you are half way there. Hats! Felt, wool, army with earflaps, whatever but cover your head! Fingerless gloves.. you can type and write but your hands will not freeze off.
Vests... yes do as your mum or nan told you, wear a vest. Not a short one but one that you can tuck in. And then just add the layers, long cardies and stuff. You can get great woolens at charity shops sometimes.
If your study is too big to heat, hang drapes to make a small space (again, charity shop for curtains and blankets) Make it an alladin cave, all cozy and warm.
Good luck!

I have survived worse Fraggle, without onesies.. they were not invented in the ice-age that was my misspent youth in drafty squats in the eighties. What was that winter? 86?
Sheepskins man. Be warm, but cool!

OneHolyCow I'm slightly tempted to put you in my study on a freezing Norfolk night at -17 degrees, with very little money for heating, in a room with 2 large windows and 2 outside walls, in an old damp house, and several thousand words to write, and see how long you last before climbing into the one thing that might stop you weeping with cold Grin

Disclaimer: I haven't actually got one yet. If it doesn't do precisely that I shall be terribly cross.

Onesies seem to have gone serious mainstream.

To all those who say that they would never wear one, have you or would you wear them to a onesie party? [yes, they do exist!]
A friend of mine said neve to a onesie, but once she had to buy and wear one to a party, she changed her mind.

Seriously, I cannot for the life of me get why you would want to dress yourself in something like a onesie. Ridiculous thing. I get my judgy pants, not attached to my top, in the most twisty twists. Please. Let go of this stupid fad and do not claim that you have to have it for warmth. Honestly.
It is horrible and makes you look like someone with a very unhealthy stuffed animal and diaper fetish.

So if I wanted to buy matching onesies for DH and DS (8yo) is that possible? And would you recommend onesies for short chunky males? They're a bit like the Greek father and son off of Britain's Got Talent Grin
