Colours - could I be wrong??

I've been watching with interest the HofC threads and thinking of getting my colours done. HOWEVER...

I have dark brown hair, brown eyes and pale skin and I know ( and people always tell me) that I look better in reds, electric blues, fuschia pinks, purple, black and fade away with pastels, light brown, golds, yellows, oranges, peach

Therefore, going on the assumption that I'm a fairly savvy, good with gut instinct type of a person am I likely to get a big surprise - ie find out I'm not a winter afterall but a spring, summer or autumn?

Because if my instinct is right then I would be paying for someone to tell me what I already know, right????? (Maybe with a bit of extra thrown in).

I don't know but I'm the same colouring as you-maybe with a yellow tinge to my face nice and get compliments in bright red/purple/grey so think I must be a winter too-but am intrigued (but too skint) to be properly analysed!

You could be wrong. But it sounds like you're not :) It sounds like 1) you look like me, and I'm a typical winter and 2) you already have a very good idea of your best colours.

OTOH loads of people on here habe come back from their colours day completely shocked at what they turn out to be, so...never say never.

I've diagnosed myself. It was a struggle at first but I am 100% sure now that I am correct. I would save your money in the circs I think.

I hate all the colours I am supposed to be, if never wear then in a million yearsGrin

SpookyRestingFace · 21/11/2013 08:02

You sound the same as me. I read the colours threads but have never felt even a little inclined to shell out for myself, as I know what suits me and what doesn't.

The "right" colours absolutely do make a difference, though. I tried on the same jumper in canary yellow and dark navy once. In the yellow I looked horrendous. In the navy, fantastic.

Perhaps it's easier for us dark haired dark eyed types because its not difficult to see that strong contrast colours suit us. Maybe blondes and redheads have a harder time because its easier to blur the lines between spring/summer and perhaps autumn.

Personally I think it's pretty easy to tell what colours suit just by looking in the mirror and using instinct. But that's just my opinion

I have your colouring and spent years thinking I was an autumn because I mistook the sallowness in my pale olive skin for a warm yellow. I also have golden lights in my hair after years of dyeing it and was diagnosed a soft autumn by a colourist (not HoC) years ago and spent years thinking I looked good in browns, orange and khaki.

I'm still struggling to be a Winter, it's too loud for my personality Grin
