Help me find some shoes!

I have a real issue with shoes. Basically I can't wear heels as I have a disability, but I don't much like flats. I've lived in my MBT trainers most of the last few years as they absorb shock and help me walk a bit further. But they're falling to bits and I can't wear them any longer. I don't want to buy more as I don't feel very attractive in them really.

I have no idea what shoes I should buy next. I have some flat boots but have wide calves so don't feel that great in them. I mostly wear black trousers and long cardigans (haven't got great legs and am in pain, so wear what's comfy).

Not sure whether to buy a pair of comfortable but trendy trainers, but have no idea what is out there or what would look good on me (Don't get to the shops much, don't buy magazines) or some other no heel boots that make me feel more attractive.

I have tried shoe shopping with a friend and ended up in tears because nothing looked good on me. And I kept trying on heels and feeling sad I couldn't buy them, which was pretty stupid of me. So suggestions welcome! I'd just like to feel attractive in a way that I don't now. I feel good about my clothes, make-up, hair etc, but never about my shoes. There must be something out there that is comfortable but looks good.

Maybe the rest of MN will say they are frumpy, but I love these kind of ankle boots. They are very comfy and obv no legs to be tight on the calves. I think they look stylish with jeans/trousers.
