Smart means suit in my opinion. Can be skirt or trousers. What is the job?

I'd go with suit and shirt plus smart shoes and formal handbag.

I just got a new job in publishing which is a fairly relaxed environment, but I wore a black wrap dress with black opaque tights and patent ballet pumps and a smart black belted mac..... I was confident and comfortable in what I was wearing. I got the job.

Ok....might go have a look in next. I don't own a suit.

It is a massive step up from what I am doing now so I want to impress them.

I have smart trousers and a suit blazer so maybe that will pair up ok....will have to have a look. I don't have a vast amount of money to spend however if it helps me get the job then I guess its money well spent.

I saw a grey shift dress with a skinny pale pink belt on Pinterest the other day it looked a gorgeous combo.
I always think dresses are good as you don't need to work out what goes with what!

Ok I will have a look at shift dresses.....although I have really fat legs. They look like a joint of meat hung in the butchers window! I guess if I wore it with tights it wouldn't matter.

Black dark tights (especially if they are tummy puller in ones to give a smoother line) will be your friend. And some nice black heels

Yes good black opaque tights -eg M and S Autograph - will cover legs and look good.
