Winter down filled coat

Any recommendations for a ladies down filled coat.
I was given one 2 years ago, obviously a cheap one as the feathers push out all over. I call it my chicken plucker's coat. So I want to buy a new one that doesn't have that feature. But I don't have a top end budget. Could stretch to £120, but rather keep it to £70. Any recommendations for that price?

just bought a black karrimor one from field and trek for £70. Reduced from about £120. Most sensible thing I have ever purchased but no complaints.

Some good down filled coats in TK Maxx when I went end of last week. They were around £50-99 and quite a few different styles..

I had a north face one, v expensive and just bought one just as nice in sainsburys! Navy blue, v nice fit, not shiny and only £40! Have had loads or remarks about how nice it looks and 2 friends gone to sainsburys today to buy!!

bishboschone · 19/11/2013 14:15

I've got a gorgeous one from Zara . Was £109 and super super warm.. Comes up small
Mind you .. Whilst north face etc are lovely , they are a bit outdoorsy for me.. The Zara one is smart and fashionable as well as warm and cheaper . Smile

FracturedViewOfLife · 19/11/2013 14:24

I have the short down coat from Fat Face that is £70 or £80 and I really like it. It is really warm and have had no problems with the feathers yet. There is also a longer version for £120.

Tinyfeetbiggob · 19/11/2013 14:28

I have the long fat face one. It's lovely and cozy with minimal feather leakage

bunnymother · 19/11/2013 14:55

I also have the Zara one in the pale cream and love it. I'm a small 10 and had to get a L www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/coats/puffer-jacket-with-hood-c269183p1294059.html

bishboschone · 19/11/2013 15:03

Mine is different to that linked . It's longer and blue .. I'm glad in not the only one who had to buy bigger .. Hey ho I love it !

Have a look at Lands End. Their quality is good and they have got a sale on at the moment. I can't justify another coat but I'm thinking of buying a down gilet to go under my wool coat for when it's really perishing.

NewBlueShoesToo · 19/11/2013 15:17

Esprit?

Loopyloulu · 19/11/2013 16:06

Uniqlo.
Best quality in that price range because they have more down than feathers.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 19/11/2013 16:18

I just bought a lands End one which is surprisingly nice, fitted and not overly Michelin man like!

It's the shimmer Parker, but it's not very shimmery!

I also ordered a Rab Microlight alpine jacket which is incredibly lightweight and I really like it but it definitely crosses into 'outdoor clothing' . Not sure if I can justify keeping it or not.

ShoeWhore · 19/11/2013 16:43

I got this one from zara but in khaki and have loads of compliments about it. It's nicer in the flesh and the furry bit round the collar makes it really cosy. I love it!

bishboschone · 19/11/2013 18:27

That's the one I have in blue . I'm blonde and fair and it suits lee better but khaki was lovely too.. It looked much more expensive than it was IMO .

bunnymother · 19/11/2013 18:57

The Zara down coats are quite heavy, whereas the Uniqlp ones are relatively light, which makes me think that, regardless of the composition of the filling re down/feather, that the Zara ones have more filling and are, therefore, warmer. Plus, I think I saw someone say that wad their experience, on another thread Grin

herecomesthsun · 19/11/2013 19:36

i bought 2 from tk maxx, very happy with them £70 and £90

babySophieRose · 19/11/2013 19:50

Uniqlo for a lighter down jacket and Lands end for a warmer. I have them both, wearing uniqlo at the moment, the Lands end saved me from freezing last winter.

scarlet76 · 19/11/2013 20:21

Have a Lands End one from last year. Super warm and a great purchase. They often have sales and offers on.

CMOTDibbler · 19/11/2013 20:31

I've got two Lands End ones (and a gilet), and they are super warm and wear very well. Am tempted to get one of the jackets they have £20 off on atm

Bradsplit · 19/11/2013 20:33

many a thread on this
like my lands end shimmer one at all - tis not shimmery at all but size WAY down but my lands end fur lined one is warmer for touch line moments

Bradsplit · 19/11/2013 20:33

lol at us all saying iTS NOT SHIMMERY

Bradsplit · 19/11/2013 20:33

dont do zara ime they anret filed with proper down

Allinafankle · 19/11/2013 21:11

Another vote for Lands End. Normally look at their stuff and think Shock but got one of their coats for a winter trip to Kiev earlier this year where it was minus-god-knows-what degrees and I was super toasty. Well worth the money and they often have good sales.

Allinafankle · 19/11/2013 21:12

Oh and it wasn't bad looking at all!

Sonotkylie · 20/11/2013 10:39

I have a 20% off code for lands end PIA20PC.
Also have a lands end down coat. Very very warm (I have the long chalet coat). Arguably a bit long on me (I am 5'4) and I wish I had gone for a plain dark colour (there is a lot of it!) not purple, but when its cold, you can't beat it.
I have heard the m and s have some good ones this year ...
