How do you keep your legs warm in winter?

I'm trying to get away from trousers a little ( and don't possess any really smart ones yet) so how do you stay warm in the chill?

I've got merino tights which are toasty but still feel it will be a drafty round the nether regions in dresses and a knee length coat.

What does everyone wear?

I bought some thermal fleece lined leggings from Primark. Cost about £6 but there literally life changing, I love them!

I second the super cosy tights from primark. They really are lush

over the knee socks, or american apparel do thigh length socks, thermal long johns, if you can get down to the knee ones?

Uniqlo have some heattech shorts which can be worn under tights.

(beware, is an American Apparel site, so probably not office friendly). I've had pairs for years – they're very tough. Also, I've got 34 in inside legs and these go right to the top.

tesco fleece lined tights!

Fleece-lined tights, heattech leggings, or just two pairs of tights, if it's really cold. Knee high boots with warm socks underneath (over the tights) and a knee-length dress or skirt. I never think of this as a colder option than trousers - I'm lovely and warm.

Thermal socks plus legwarmers.

I got fleece lined leggings in Peacocks, I had never seen them before, now reading this it seems I have been walking around with my eyes closed! They are fab though, really toasty wherever you get them from I guess (only £5 in Peacocks).

Heat tech tights with knee high boots, or fleece lined tights. I find some dresses ride up with fleece lined tights. For travelling to work and waiting around in freezing windy stations, a padded longer length coat, gloves hat and long scarf or stole to cover my knees when sitting waiting.

I wear two pairs of tights if i'm wearing a skirt or dress.

Fleece lined tights or leggings. Thick socks. Boots.

And now I'm in bed in my comfys. Jack wills joggers. Best pjs/comfys ever. So toasty.
