Perfume for acidic skin??

Just had a clear-out of my cupboards and found several bottles of nice expensive perfumes which are pretty much unused. The reason is that nothing smells nice on me! I'll walk past someone in the street or in the changing rooms at the gym and they smell amazing, but I buy the exact same perfume myself and within an hour it settles on my skin and smells of chemicals and gives me a headache.

I've given up for a few years and just stuck with moisturisers etc but I've always wanted a 'signature scent' and feel the need to try again. Are there perfumes which work for people like me? What should I look for?

To give you an idea, the smells I like I'd say are earthy and chocolatey, for example I love the body shop brazil nut stuff and actually got on with Laura Mercier creme brulee, although the smell wore off super-fast.

Any ideas? Or am I a lost cause?

Have you tried the Liz Earle perfumes? They are very good at adapting to your skin ime and as they are less chemical based they don't give me a head ache. Worth getting some testers from John Lewis.

Oh fab, thanks! Will go and take a look (and smell) next time I'm nearby!
