Emporer's new clothes or the real thing?

I used to buy NY then went off the smells of some of the stuff. Not sure if it's worth the £££ now.

It's not worth what it costs. You can do a lot better!

I appreciate it's buying into an image/lifestyle choice etc....but I suppose the question is, are the products good and do they work ( as much as any skincare does- I don't mean removes wrinkles.)

L'Oreal and Nivea for mid-price stuff. Clinique (NOT the terrible 3 step stuff) in the Neal's Yard price range.

I think the Neal's Yard stuff is style over substance. They make a big deal about the organic plant extracts. Frankincense for example, has no proven skin benefits. I'd recommend looking at the Beautypedia website, which tells it like it is!

I've had a good trawl of Beautypedia and NY isn't on their brand list.

I've used Clinique all my life and L'Oreal cleansers, but very few Clinique products get a good review on Beautypedia.

They do rate Olay and I've just run out ( only buy it from Amazon at a good price.)

The only thing I like of theirs of the wild rose balm which I've used for cleansing. I use Clinique's Take The Day Off balm at the mo (a lot cheaper at around £21 for twice the amount of NY) but the wild rose one is very nice

I like some of NY stuff and the Frankincense night cream smells and feels absolutely gorgeous.

None of them really do any good do they? I just buy them if they smell good, feel nice and yes if the packaging is up to scratch which NY certainly is .

Beautypedia is very direct about brands that market themselves on herbs/plants/organic. Sorry if I didn't explain properly.

Oh I know about Beautypedia- Clarins gets slated.

What about the new Frankincense Intense (it's a pretty intense price, for sure!). Anyone tried it? £55 and claims to get rid of the wrinkles.

I wonder if anyone will fall for that? AS IF a cream could get rid of wrinkles!!!

I love NY rose facial oil. I like the little blue glass bottles. Looks prettier in the bathroom than crappy Olay packaging

My neighbours (who are aromatherapists) used to work for NY as consultants and had a few choice words to say about them.

I find their creams v rich but like Rose Facial Oil and sometimes their scrubs and they used to do a nice frankinsense body lotion. But vastly overpriced IMO and wait for sales!

when you say they had a few choice words to say about them what do you mean? spill the beans?

Well they didn't rate their products at all (think also something to do with standards in aromatherapy world but not quite sure) and the main players and company's ways of doing things got them riled. Neighbours were on board and were consultants. They're fully qualified.

My neighbours owned their own aromatherapy school made their own creams etc they just clashed with them.

Also said products v expensive for what they were. You can make half their creams if you have time and book on aromatherapy and skin care.

Re the Beautypedia well it's US website so hence a des European and uk brands are missing. They seem to have left out Nuxe who I rate a lot.

But they seem bang on re my last 2 moisturiser purchases!

Bit of a pain to see them slate jars too i much prefer jars to pump action bottles etc.
