Which coat?

Generally hate parkas but quite like these (although still not decided on whether to continue a desperate search for something more feminine!)

I like waxed jackets so that one tempts me but can't decide!

Would probably go for storm grey although the normal one looks nice in khaki!

What are Mint Velvet like?

The grey waxed one looks like a bin bag. The other one is nice for a parker. Looks cosy.

But £179 for a bloody coat?! Vero Moda do cheaper ones and in the sales they'll be marked down so much so I'd almost be tempted to save.

Is Vero Moda in Debenhams as 20% off all items or price match John Lewis some days.

I like them both. I don't think the grey one looks likre a binbag but I do probably slightly prefer the other one.

Just had a peak at Vero moda and nothing nice there.

I think it's the sheen showing on the waxed one that looks wrong.Shame as it has a removable fleece lining

Really!!! I think they are very expensive and would expect them to be waterproof at that price. I do like them though.

For that money I would have expected something much more substantial , filled with down and feathers and longer. You could get something like this for that price and it is like a duvet. Great if and when we have another snowy winter. We have had snow on the mountains behind me for two weeks now so im already wearing my down filled long coat.

Depends what you want I guess. I live in the mountains in a very rural area and it is freezing here already. Have spent the last 3 years in my Parka freezing my whatsits off so finally decided to get a duvet coat.

I like wax jackets, but there's something about the gathered waist and length of that one, and the light glinting off it, that looks bin baggy.

The prices are fine for a coat IMO, but I'd want it to be warm and I'm never impressed by mint velvet's materials - they have £70 jumpers that are mostly cotton and nylon, which is a bit shite considering they're not that stylish. You could get a lovely wool coat for your budget, if you'd like/need a wool one.

I don't think the prices of these Parkas are fine at all. You could get something similar from Matalan like it. Would expect a bit more substantial filling made of down that would actually keep you warm. Do think they look like bin liners though.

You cannot get anything like them in places like matalan at all!And certainly not anything waxed with a detachable fleece lining!!!

I used to do wool coats elizabeth but need something a lil more relaxed and with a hood etc for school run,shopping etc.Can't use an umbrella as need both hands for disabled ds

I've emailed them about the sheen,not sure if it's just the lighting during photography as not general look on waxed jackets!I do need to be able to draw the waist in,as bust hourglass.(If I wore a padded down thing I'd be drowning lmao)

I also can't wear black without looking dead.Seriously dead!

So you're not bothered about how practical it is for a UK winter then?

I like to look stylish, but not at the expense of being cold and wet. In winter I wear outerwear that protects me from the elements. If it is stylish that is a bonus, but practicality wins the day for me.

You don't NEED giant padded coats.Layering is fantastic for trapping warmth.

Seriously Trip where have you been for the last couple of years. We have been snowed in every year. Freezing and need good snow boots too.

Im looking at snow on Snowdon now as we speak.

You must live in the balmy southeast because up here in Scotland in is bloody freezing in the winter, with early morning starts down to minus 10. Duvet coat all the way plus layering!

I've been in Plymouth,Devon,where we've had a max of say 3 'snow days' in 3 years.A 'snow day' meaning part of the city has snow,most probably doesn't.When it does (like my birthday this year),2 inches of snow in my area had people locked up in doors and my son being the only child in school....

Southwest.I'm still doing the school run in a short sleeved top and cardi.Yes it's colder (warmer outside I'll add!) but not freezing.

First frost of the year yesterday,was chilly to start but the sun soon warmed it up!
