Somebody had to do it Grin

MrsS, my profoundest sympathies. I was just about to write what BTM has already written: it all sounds horribly familiar, right down to the whole refusing to ask "because then I'll look stupid" thing. Oh and the "it's not my fault". Gah. Gin is an infinitely better solution than banging your head against the wall. You may still end up with a headache, but at least you'll have enjoyed the preliminaries.

BTM, I must have looked especially lovely early last Saturday morning when I tottered (and I do mean tottered) down the garden in my luffly onesie to let the chickens out, whilst still pissed as a fart from the night before and feeling a tad green. Total class, eh?

Auriga · 12/12/2013 22:24

17 or 24 fine for me. Would love to see ppl again.

I would just like to say that I have started a leetle early on working my way through my Christmas sherry stash and have made the happy discovery that a nice hefty Amontillado goes very well with Bombay mix. This will be my Christmas snackage. Yum.
Dd has finished her mocks without any bloodshed. It has all not been too bad and we haven't had much drama (obviously got that all out of her system over the past few weeks, then) except for yesterday when she cocked up her Eng Lit by losing one of the set books behind her locker just before the exam. Hmm There apparently were no spare books, so she said she was then so freaked out she froze and wrote nothing.

motherinferior · 12/12/2013 22:27

17th please!

I would like it on record that Lalsy and addle were both incredibly kind Grin

Congrats, Auriga. Wibbly Pig wasn't a friend of Kipper but they were drawn by the same person and Kipper had a mate called Arnold who was a dead ringer for Wibbly. Since you askGrin

I am v taken with the mental pic of Stropps in her onesie. And sympathies to all with unenthusiastic kids..

Auriga · 12/12/2013 22:27

Strops, Wibbly Pig used to have books all to himself. DD loved him and related to him. In one book she'd shake her head vigorously whenever we got to a certain page. Took us months to realise it was because WP was standing up in the bath (and you're Not Allowed to stand up in the bath).

I think the 24th might be better for me, but I will have to have a quick think about which w/e I'm supposed to be doing ds's b-day party..

Stropperella · 12/12/2013 22:30

Hah, MI, thank you for reminder of Arnold. That's who it was Grin
Naughty Wibbly, standing up in the bath. Grin

Ah well, maybe ds will have to have his b-day on the w/e of the 17th. :)

Stropperella · 12/12/2013 22:35

Aaargh, no I mean ds will have to have his b-day on the w/e of the 24th, then I can (I think) come on the 17th. (eh, that sherry is stronger than you think)

motherinferior · 12/12/2013 22:45

I feel v sad that Wibbly might be out of print. He can make a tent, you know. And he likes bananas.

herbaceous · 12/12/2013 22:50

I can do both 17th and 24th, I believe.

Oh the extremes of four-year-old behaviour. One minute he's kicking me in the shins because he wants to listen to the conga before dinner, and not after, and the next he's singing me songs in Mandarin.

The absence of Aunt Flo, plus cramps, is now joined by a bloated belly and mild nausea. More than likely the menopause. Isn't it.

motherinferior · 12/12/2013 22:51

Go on, herbs, you know you want to!

motherinferior · 12/12/2013 22:52

Sounds distinctly non-menopausal to me!

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/12/2013 22:59

POAS Herbs!

herbaceous · 12/12/2013 23:04

I will do tomorrow. The only ones in the house are two years out of date. < soils self >

Stropperella · 12/12/2013 23:23

POAS asap, herbs!

I am just back from my crepe-tastic volunteering Christmas do. A more startling array of facial hair has never been gathered on one place - some of them appeared to have no gaps apart from eyes and mouth. I felt very young and sprightly.

Sympathies to all those with teenage stroppers. Maybe they all need a break. As do we I am sure.

BTW have found wibbly! He can't be out of print!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/12/2013 08:48

Wibbly is still available on Amazon, MI! Fear not!

I can do either date for the Hagfest. Where are we going?

A friend of mine who had had numerous courses of IVF became pregnant quite naturally and gave birth at the age of 50, several years after they had given up on IVF and decided it wasn't to be. What she thought was the menopause and bloating was a 20 week pregnancy. She was in shock for the entire pregnancy and just as incredulous that this baby in a cot next to her in hospital was actually hers.

beachyhead · 13/12/2013 08:52

17th or 24th are good for me.....

I'm loving the POAS/Crepey combo..... an unexpected but welcome twist! Herbs, I'm sure someone can babysit the VW dress for a year Grin

Mrs S and all with tired and stressy teenagers, you will have a welcome break soon. I have the opposite problem with my dd - incessant questioning, all lesson long. She goes in every year with a 'high maintenance' sticker stuck on her! Still, most teachers have been very patient indeed, thank goodness.

I did have a Coach handbag once, in the heady 80's when I was given it as a leaving present from one of my graduate attachments Shock. It was stolen from a wine bar, probably while I was wearing a ruffle shirt and big earrings..... those were the days. Anyway, the days of Coach are gone as the price seems to have risen alongside Mulberry (another brand that seemed strangely accessible years ago!) But I do like this Bit big, but love the colour...

Mulberry bag prices are ridiculous. My Coach bag was around 200 euros in an outlet shop near Paris. I like your green bag, Beachy. I want something like my Longchamp Pliage but in leather, or something more substantial, as the Pliage goes to holes in the pointy corners at the bottom and I keep losing pens. Coach website has the perfect bag here but I can't really justify spending that on me (although DH, whose spending knows no bounds when it is on himself has just spent £150 on skincare from Space NK and a fortune on a puffy jacket with a fur hood. Hmm).

herbaceous · 13/12/2013 09:18

Lord, I don't know ruby. I can't even remember if we did sex in a relevant way at the relevant time. Seems unlikely! But my period is usually pretty regular, on a 25-28 day cycle, so should have come around 27-28 November. I had cramps for about two weeks since then, but no other PMT symptoms such as migraine, The Rage, etc. My lower belly feels quite odd and like it's expanding.

I'd just come to terms with never having another baby. I'd convinced DP it was highly unlikely, and god knows what his reaction is going to be. I haven't told him any of my suspicions! You lot are the only ones to know!

So, I don't want to get my hopes up, if it's not so. And, even if I am, the chances of it resulting in an actual baby are pretty slim, considering my age and the fact that only one my last six pregnancies ended up lasting to term...

But it would be the Law of Sod, wouldn't it, that I just buy a figure-hugging mega-frock only to never be able to wear it again!
