Ruby - wind chimes?! For or against??

(Thinks of own bamboo number from a trip to Bali many moons ago that 'bonks' rather than tinkles....)

Well done MrsS and happy Chanuka. Smile I have ordered ingredients for Xmas baking (found pre-chopped dates, thank god, they were scarce for a few years, and chopping dates is the devil's job). For the first year I am actually keeping proper track of Xmas spending so that I can show dh how much it all costs each year, so that when I suggest a smaller (or no) tree for those years when we are not at home for Xmas, or similar cost-saving ideas, he doesn't sulk. This is not a Grinch thing - I adore Christmas and would happily have a 20ft tree and go to Liberty to buy handmade baubles and over-priced felt reindeer every year - but dh has 17 people in his family, and we need to budget.

Well done Mrs S. In Your Face(s) BB and AB.

GNN. Just had my first school gate politics encounter. Cornered by a woman who had wanted to donate stuff to the PTA Christmas Fair, but due to the utter incompetence of the whole committee doesn't know when, what, where and how to do so. Then told me all about the racial complications her and her child suffer from being the wrong sort of Asian descent. They often get ignored by certain parents, etc. I felt guilty, even though none of this is to do with me.

I can now see why people just drop the kids and scarper.

MrsS- great Chanukah rescue. I'm going to be sad tonight as it's the last night and my awesome sausage dog chanukiah goes away for another year :(

I rather like windchimes, if they're made of gentle material like bamboo or that weird mother of pearl stuff. Cheap jangly metal ones aren't so good.

bigTillyMintspie · 04/12/2013 10:37

Thinking of you MrsS - just had a meeting in your neck of the woods. Which I walked to from home - a good 50min stomp!

Wilbur, I am impressed with your budgeting. Luckily we have very few to buy for.

DH has gone off to his uncles funeral - he had MS for 30years. His poor son has flown back from NZ and has to go back again on Sat.

Windchimes? Unironically?? Really?
For yourself or as a present?

bigTillyMintspie · 04/12/2013 16:48

Windchimes? Haven't got any, but they don't annoy me!

I have just done an entire interview in my pants Grin

Off to find my jeans now....

Shock
motherinferior · 05/12/2013 09:58

It was on the phone! I didn't mention my pantlessness. I conducted my self with total decorum while inwardly sniggering. I'd come back from the swimming pool a bit late (our road is terrible for finding parking spaces) and was generally dashing around.

I have now found my jeans Grin

herbaceous · 05/12/2013 10:18

Weren't you a bit parky MI? I'm in my study in thermal vest, sweatshirt and fleece, with cat keeping my lap warm, and I'm already considering a hat. Mind you, the radiators doesn't work in here.

sassytheFIRST · 05/12/2013 10:25

Hello crepeys, at nearly 41 I am wondering if I can join you all?

I'd like some advice on my hair - re-posted from another thread. What do you reckon?

I fancy the idea of a fringe, partly to up-date my look, partly to minimise wrinkles (I'm 41 soon). My hair is a messy layered bob at the moment, and I'd keep the rest similar. Thinking about something like www.hairpediaclub.com/dianna-agron-messy-bob-hairstyle-for-party-hair-look.html

But my face-shape is square with a stubborn strong jawline - does this mean a fringe wouldn't work?

motherinferior · 05/12/2013 10:46

Well, I like it - go for it!

herbaceous · 05/12/2013 11:11

I like it too! It's what I want my hair to do, magically, without me making any effort. Which oddly doesn't work very well.

motherinferior · 05/12/2013 11:13

BTW Herbs am now in thermal vest, warm sweater, thick socks and jeans. And naffo slippers. And next to a radiator.

herbaceous · 05/12/2013 11:15

Why oh why won't my radiator work? It doesn't need bleeding, and I've turned all the others in the house down to try and encourage it to burst into life. I've hit the valve with a hammer, and everything.

Hi Sassy - I think the fringe on that pic would work as it's quite soft, sometimes blunt fringes can look a bit severe, depending on face shape. Good to take the pic to the hairdresser with you so they can see exactly what you mean!
