Cambridge Satchel Co - does anyone have one?

What are they like as handbags? Do things fall out of them if they get tipped upside down?

Also do you think they're age appropriate for someone rapidly approaching 40?! My friend's 18 yo has one, so don't want to look like I'm trying to look too young!

Also does anyone know of anything similar at half quarter the price?

I bought a Vivienne Westwood one, it is the best bag I have ever owned I love it. I only use it at weekends though. Excellent quality and a great investment. I am 40!

I keep checking them out online and the age thing bothered me which is silly as I'm 35 and wear skinny jeans and converse so hardly a conservative dresser!! Anyway, today I saw a lady with one - an 11inch purple one - and she was well in her 50s and it really suited her. The quality looked amazing.

Mine is traditional satchel brown, four years old, and comes to the office with me every day. It looks like new apart from the flap straps which are a bit dirty. It is big enough for an A4 notebook, and usually carries a small lunchbox, some knitting and usual bumph (lipstick, pens, toy cars, all the essentials) with no trouble.

Don't tip it upside down. I lie mine down with the flap open on my lap when knitting on the bus or train, and things very rarely escape.

The only time I've felt self conscious with it (I'm 35) I was also wearing a duffel coat, and heading the wrong way past lecture theatres at 9am so looked like a real wannabe student.

Now look what you've done; having previewed this post I now want another one!

I'm getting one for my 30th - the alumni version that's dark brown with Cambridge blue panels. Can't wait!
Of course, I'm in publishing, so it's all skinny jeans, big glasses, and satchels anyway :D

Groupon bags were "the leather satchel company" not the cambridge satchel company which is fine but I'd want the real deal.

Ah seems like they are the real deal being the original company?? All look fab whatever.

I'm 40 and have had my purple one for a couple of years. It's my main work bag. I love it, it gets lots of compliments. I do find the buckles a bit of a pain so wouldnt want one as my handbag that I'm in and out of all the time.
