Plopping. What am I doing wrong?

I've tried plopping having read about it here.

My problem is that all my curl is in the length of my hair not near my scalp. So as my hair gets longer it gets curlier.

Plopping makes the length of my hair look great but my roots lie flat on my head and look awful. How do you 'plop' AND have volume on top, or is it impossible?

Are you bundling your hair on top of your head properly?I tend to quickly run my fingers through my hair, with my head upside down, before I plop it in the towel. The first time I done it I didn't have much root lift but it got better every day.

Is your hair going directly on top of the middle of your head?

Should add, when I run my fingers through,I do it from the scalp down as hair tends to my quite flat to scalp when flat. So,I'm kinda lifting it

I think it depends on you hair, when I did CG I found the roots got straighter and straighter and closer to my head, while the rest of my hair got curlier and curlier.

I have to admit I have done it three times (all for between 6 months and a year) and the three times when I gave up and actually washed my hair were all very very happy days Grin

Personally I have now solved the problem of what do with my curly mop by cutting it like this only a bit shorter, and problem hair days are over Grin

I'll try the fingers thing. I was just kind of dangling my head upside down and lowering onto a microfibres towel. I'm not doing the whole cg routine either. Still using normal shampoo and conditioner and frizz ease serum.
