Thoughts please.... I liked it but worried it'll be lost in a sea of sequins

Depends. I wore a really plain dress last il year but with a fab necklace. Is it your usual style? What's the quality of the lace like?

Deathwatchbeetle · 09/11/2013 18:01

That looks lovely. With a bit of bling for jewelry - earrings and a nice bag with it. Shame I cannot wear something so short or high necked :(

tethersend · 09/11/2013 18:14

There are nicer lace dresses out there, TBH. This for example.

Deathwatchbeetle · 09/11/2013 18:21

Yes, now that one is gorgeous tether.

CointreauVersial · 09/11/2013 18:32

OP, I just ordered this which is similar. I'm not sure if it's "me", though (and I'll need shoes...).

CreamyCooler · 09/11/2013 19:38

Does it come in other colours? At all the parties I go to nearly all the ladies wear black and it's the ones in colours like red or electric blue who look the best.

MotherBluestocking · 09/11/2013 23:57

I like the dress, provided the lace is good quality and doesn't look too flammable - but my feeling is that lace dresses have had their day.

Dilidali · 10/11/2013 00:08

this? you could wear it on other occasions too.

CointreauVersial · 10/11/2013 01:13

Mother, I'm worried about that too.

Although they are all over the shops.

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 10/11/2013 08:40

I agree with the comments, lace dresses are everywhere, I just thought this one was a bit different, it's a really open lace and a good shape on me. I'm tall and a size 12 apple with big boobs, my legs are probably my best feature. Red, electric blue and emerald green are my best colours, and I have seriously saggy mum tum which needs hidden... Any ideas? Budget up to around £100 for something fab but ideally less so I can have a new clutch too.

No better suggestions than those above, but just wanted to say, if you are tall and a size 12, how saggy can your stomach really be?? Not very, I suspect!

gininteacupsandleavesonthelawn · 10/11/2013 17:38

I'm more a 12-14 but a 12 in the dress I linked to. Very saggy actually, like an empty bag, overhanging and covered in stretch marks so deep they can be seen through thin/clingy fabric if you must know :(

Have you seen this?

Similar shape to the one you were looking at, but not lace - and Cheap. As. Chips.
I would say, though, that usually the larger-norked among us aren't best flattered by a high neck, even if tall. See Tess Daly on Strictly, who always looks as though her boobs are growing out of her stomach despite her height - though that's partly due to poor posture I think.

Loopyloulu · 11/11/2013 10:41

I don't think lace dresses will ever date- they are classic in a way. I hope so because I spent a lot for one last year for a wedding evening do and have not worn it since.
I do think it's important to get a good quality one which doesn't look like a nightie, though.
