Ear piercing care

I used to have 3 holes in one of my earlobes, but I left the third one out & it's healed over. I want to get it re-pierced.

Can anyone advise on aftercare these days? I've had various other piercings over the years but despite trying to look after them they've never really settled down & I've ended up having to take them out because they hurt.

The only ones that I've kept are 3 lower lobe one.

If I get this one re-done what should I be doing to minimise the risk of infection/pain etc? I'm thinking firstly that I need to go to a proper piercer at a tattooist rather than Claires yes?

Yes to proper piercer. Saline solution is usually the best. Tbh I used sea salt warm water to clean mine and except that left well alone and they healed nicely. Sometimes the more you faff, the more they retaliate!

Thanks so no to all that twisting we used to get told to do?

Nope, no twisting - it can tear the tissue
I just soaked the scabby bits off and kept them clean
