Merrell sizing

Hi, after getting soaked to the skin several times on the school run this week and mum & dad saying they will give me birthday money towards a warm, waterproof coat with a hood (budget £100-£150) I have been avidly googling!
I am a size 12-14, 5'9" with big boobs (34F). Most Merrell & Didriksons seem sold out from looking at various sites so I am left (I think) with a Merrell Miette from their site in sale at £140. How does their sizing work? Would a medium suit do you think?
I do want one which comes down to mid thigh to cover my bottom in the rain and it needs to have a hood!
Any other thoughts/ suggestions gratefully received :) thanksWine

32G 14/16 on top, 12/14 bottom. 5"7.
My merrell is a L. I wouldn't want smaller.
Personally I've got an ellenwood. Can't fault it yet (winter 2).

ChablisLover · 08/11/2013 20:32

I have a large haven.

I'm 5.6 and size 12 with 34d boobs.

Wouldn't want it any tighter. Though my other haven is also large and more roomy (don't remember the model) so it will all depend on the individual style.

LalaDipsey · 08/11/2013 20:36

Ooh def a large then! Any other suggestions apart from the Miette? X

in budget

Anything north face take your fancy?

merrell Geraldine recomended last thread like this I saw, but not sure re waterproof level? - only 'cause I've not researched it, not because it isn't, iyswim?

LalaDipsey · 08/11/2013 20:50

Like the Ellenwood, is it warm? I do like North Face, In fact I have a lovely North Face very warm coat but it doesn't have a hood and that's what I feel is lacking in this rain!

I found the Ellenwood wasn't that warm. Plus the lining ripped and I have just returned it.

Am wondering about the Merrell Isadore down coat instead.

LalaDipsey · 08/11/2013 21:14

Personally the Isadore isn't for me. Being quite tall with big boobs I think I would look a bit Michelin man like! I'm wanting something a bit more fitted. Good to now you thought the Ellenwood wasn't warm enough though - whatever one I buy needs to last years of school runs 10x a week plus forest bashing at the weekends!

I've got the insulated ellenwood and find it über warm. I have a dog that likes to dawdle on his walks (for what feels like hours) and I am never cold. The arms are a little long but help keep my hands toasty (and I suffer with Raynauds).

I'm a size 14 and quite 'hippy' and the large is spot on.

carrielou2007 · 08/11/2013 22:23

I have the original Wskefield in L I would say 14 though had enormous bf boobs when I bought it. I also bought insulated version in M 12 both amazing coats just shame both too big fir me at last but S is 8-10 so still wee but if weight to go. My Wskefield is on eBay Grin

carrielou2007 · 08/11/2013 22:30

Bah, I can spell though had fifth eye op on Monday shameful sympathy attempt

ThenAgain · 08/11/2013 22:31

I've got the Ellenwood, slightly snug M and I'm 12-14.

Got it from this EBay seller, was super quick shipping and cheap / perfect condition.

I am a curvy 14/16 5'8" and have a non-insulated Haven in L and an insulated Haven in XL. The L is very snug on the hips and the XL is rather big all over. I need a Land a half! Got both from ebay as used and offered a buy it now price in both cases (they weren't advertised with that option) - I was particularly keen as they are purple and red rather than the beiges that seem to come up more often. Both look unworn.

LalaDipsey · 09/11/2013 11:32

Thank you :) I have found a Cotswold store about 14 miles away so will try and get there to try on and assess size before buying cheaper from elsewhere!!
