Measurements for body type

Hello lovely ladies. What measurements do I need to take to figure out my body shape?

I'm thinking shoulders, bust, waist, hips, leg length, and possibly a few others.

I've measured my bust at 40 inches (with my bra on), my waist at 33 inches, my hips at 41.5 inches.

But what does it all mean? Some body shape calculators online say I am a straight shape, while others say I am an hourglass.

Also, how do I tell whether I have long legs in proportion to the rest of my body? Or, more to the point, a short torso?

I would say straight.Traditionally an hourglass must be a minimum of 10-12 inches larger on both bust and hips than waist.

Although,Some modern people say 5 inches, but in reality that looks nothing like an hourglass.

Are your shoulders in line with hips?

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 09/11/2013 07:56

Thank you. If I measure around the tops of my arms just under the tops of my shoulders, it is 38.5 inches, so narrower than my hips.

Don't measure them like that. They can be narrower back to front or wider back to front.Just like hips measurements incorporate a bit of curvage from the rear!

What you need to know is whether they are in actual line with the hips at the front or whether they are wider or narrower.

Oh, I see!

If I look at myself in the mirror, my shoulders don't look wider or narrower than my hips, pretty much the same.

Thanks for this.
