Why does my hair turn out dark......

Okay, so it's about 5 weeks since I used colour b4 to get rid of the dyed dark brown on my hair. Initially it worked, took me to a gingery light brown, but gradually over the following couple of days, it returned to its previous dark colour by itself.

About a week later I applied a permanent colour ( I know I probably shouldn't off but I was desperate!) in a very light, golden copper colour). The result was dark hair! Anyway I found out about a vitamin c & shampoo mix & how it strips colour from hair. I gave it a go & wow it worked, I was back to the coppery stage what colour b4 gave me.

So, last week, 4 weeks after colour b4 (I'm trying to achieve an intense bright copper colour) I put on the intense feria colour in mango, thinking it should be fine to use a permanent colour now, but again my hair turned darker! So once again I did the vit c mix. The colour I'm used isn't exactly dark, very bright, light gingery. My hair at the moment is like a auburn colour.

So why is it when I put a colour on it just turns dark? Is it something to do with the colour B4? It shouldn't be reacting like that after 4 weeks? I'm hesitant now to put any colours on. I'm wanting a nice rich bright auburn colour, but its all patchy at the moment with lighter roots. I don't mind waiting until nearer Xmas to do it but even then it may come out dark.

Have seen those Shwarzkopf ultra brights, the semi permanents, the one in firey copper (orange one!) I wonder if I use some of that through the lengths it may brighten my hair up or will it just not show anything?

I can only speak from my own experience.....my hair is lightened to light golden blond. If I put a medium golden blond on it my hair goes dark dark golden blond brown. So I have to make sure I always put a light colour on it. When you hair is bleached in any way, Colour B4 would have a bleaching affect I think, then when you put any colour on it it will absorb and suck up any colour more than uncoloured or unbleached hair would and goes much darker than it says on the box.
So I would think you need to put a light golden copper blond colour on your hair to achieve the look, or light auburn blond But don't use the extra light ones. Please do a strand test with any colour you do to check the results first though. Maybe something like this.

Thanks MillyRules for your reply.

I used this one

First time round, which i thought was light enough. And the pic of the loreal one looks exactly like the loreal feria mango that I used the second time round!

Just a bit unsure now what to use, wonder if its the peroxide that maybe reacting with whatever is in the colour b4, but like I say that was 4 weeks ago when I coloured my hair last week. Sigh!

Put a "ANY HAIRDRESSERS OUT THERE" thread up. That should get their attention.
