Knee boots with skirts?

I have been wearing ankle boots of late, with skinnys etc. But now it's getting cold, I'm thinking that I can't wear shortish skirts without a bit of boot coming up my leg to close the gap and stop me freezing.
So... knee boots + above-knee skirts... okay fashion-wise right now???
Not that I'm ever such a fashion slave, but I am of the age where it is very easy to tip over into frumpsville and have to tread a careful line.
What's the verdict?

Well,it will never be frumpy! Go for it

50ShadesOfMaybe · 05/11/2013 08:49

It's fine IMO. I think frumpy where the skirt covers the top of the boots.

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 11:38

Well, I know what you mean - it doesn't look as current as mini plus ankle boot but I think as long as you pull the whole thing together in an interesting way, it's ok < not that helpful I know.

Suffice to say I'm wearing new brown suede knee boots today with a skirt ending about 6 inches above. Happy with the look. Back into my ankle boots tomorrow though!

outragedofsuburbia · 05/11/2013 11:43

Depends on your body does it not. An ankle book with a skirt on a short person or someone with short legs (like me) will only lead to looking like a gnome.

AndTwoBits · 05/11/2013 12:41

Im wearing a mini denim skirt today with thick tights and ankle boots. I tried the outfit with knee high boots but i looked a bit mumsy to be honest. The thick tights and warm coat have kept me toasty warm, and I've very short socks on that you cant see too. Id personally stick with ankle boots.

I like knee boots with an a line midi or maxi skirt, 70s style.

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 14:17

Me too tethers - like Wendy Craig in Butterflies, or a really kind teacher.

outragedofsuburbia · 05/11/2013 14:21

Monsoon are doing a good line in primary school teacher's clothes from the 1970's at the moment. I keep getting flashbacks walking past.

HelloBoys · 05/11/2013 14:21

I wear knee high or below the knee (eg almost top of calf) boots with skirts - knee length.

I have a few boots (black suede flats, top shop leather flats etc) but probably could do with more not really

Yy, charitygirl, exactly

tethersend · 05/11/2013 14:49

I just ordered an a line velvet skirt from monsoon actually- don't usually shop there at all. Might be my new favourite place Shock

Levantine · 05/11/2013 16:59

Like a really kind teacher Grin we are obviously of the same era

tethersend · 05/11/2013 20:08

Velvet skirt arrived today- it's shit. Less 70s mum, more tie dye 90s hippy art teacher.

angelinajelly · 05/11/2013 20:21

I think knee length boots are great with either knee length or above-knee skirts. The only no-no imo is black tights if neither boots nor skirt is black.

Drywhiteplease · 05/11/2013 21:13

Some looks for you, not at all frumpy;

Tethers, was it you who was contemplating buying the lovely tan heeled Duo boots? Did you get them and are you happy with them? Just curious - they're gorgeous!

charitygirl · 05/11/2013 21:54

Yes, tethers, which shoes did you get?

Toast have some lovely a-line skirts, bastard expensive tho.

tethersend · 05/11/2013 23:24

Yes!

I got the dune boots, and they are beeyootiful. Lovely soft leather and blissfully comfy. Can't recommend them highly enough, in fact.

MrsMcGregor · 06/11/2013 09:08

Smile Glad you're pleased with thm. They are very very lovely and as much as I'd love them, I'm on the lookout for grey ankle boots and a wine jumper. Enjoy!
