I'm a size 20in trousers but have a horrible feeling I'll be a 22 in skirts. I've gone from a 26 down to an 18 and now back up a bit. Sad I am working on it but I'd love a couple of skirts for work. I like my legs, quite happy wear shorter dresses but a line skirts look hideous as I have a belly and maxi skirts make me look even worse. Does anyone have any idea what would look good?

I would think a classic pencil skirt in good quality fabric would look great - midi length if you can wear heels with it.

Swingy full skirts suit EVERYONE.

I have a theory on skirts for the larger woman. I am currently a size 18 and trying to become smaller. I haven't worn a skirt for over 12 years as I just haven't found one that is as flattering as a pair of trousers. I think if you carry your weight on your hips and look wide when looking at yourself front on, then skirts will suit you. However, if you carry your weight all at the front on your belly, skirts just hang off you making you look larger. Whereas, with trousers you get the separation which alludes to slimness. Does this make sense?
