A question about acrylic nails

After they've been taken off how long did it take your nails to regain their strength?
My nails always grew but started to snap after say half an inch at the tips
Had acrylics in for a wedding, had them taken off today and just a normal polish on top and they're really weak and bendy, three have split already!!

They won't regain strength I'm afraid. Nails are dead, like hair, so can be made to look better, but won't actually recover.
Having acrylics is like wearing a plaster on skin. I would suggest keeping them short ant using a good nail strengther, and a good hand and nail creme for about six weeks.

Would putting shellac or gelish on them help?

I'm not sure, but I think so, not unless you are thinking of long term use.
Almond oil is very good, and massaging into the cuticles and surrounding area will promote growth.

Sorry - I mean I don't think so...

I had them done about 3 times in a row so a couple of months & when I got fed up with them my nails underneath were in a shocking state, weak, split & with green mould on them!!!! Took about 6 months for them to look nice again! Awful things Shellac much better for your nails.

I had mine done for my hol, they lasted a week only. I loved how they looked but when they came off my nails were horrid, all flakey and fragile. I used a hand and nail cream and almond oil rubbed in every night and they look better now. I also buffed and polished with the 3 in one file thingy I have rather than using nail polish and this has improved the smoothness again.
