S&B newbie needs dress advice

[Stase]

I need a dress for DH's 40th birthday, drinks with friends in a nice cocktail bar, one of those speakeasy-type places. I'm a 12, 5'7", but a bit of a tummy, no waist to speak of. Will this dress be forgiving on my straight-up-and-down, (except side-on, from which angle I look about 4 months pg) 37 year old figure?
I'm thinking either black tights and courts, or tan tights and black shoe-boots (are they still in?) and poker straight hair.

Thoughts, stylish ones?
