Help me find the perfect, fitted, winter coat please!

Ok, so I thought I was sorted with my winter coat for this year. I bought a grey one last year from oasis and assumed it was a keeper. That was until I wore it on last and my 'charming' DD (7) said "mummy, why do you wear that coat? You look like a giant, mummy koala!" So that was that. I since asked a few people if it suited me and people have agreed that it makes me look bigger than I am, so it's going to a charity shop I think. Or possibly a fancy dress shop, which specialises in animal costumes

Ideally I'd like a coat which is mid length, black or red, fitted (is a must) possibly belted. Not bulky at all and very feminine. Sexy even. I'm a size 10.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Bee, yeah that's very nice. Does it have shoulder pads? Cos everything seems to recently and they just don't suit me. I already have quite broad shoulders, so they can make me look like an American football player Not a good look.

tether, budget is around £100, but could go over a bit, depending on how much I liked it and how good the quality is. I like the colour of the one you linked me to, but yeah, unfortunately, it's a bit out my budget. Also, I'd prefer an open neck. Not very practical in the cold weather I know, but I high necks don't suit me.

It has a tiny bit of shoulder padding. Check out the other coats at Joy though, they are so, so lovely.

tether, thanks for those Really liked the per una one. Hadn't thought about M&S. I always thought they were a bit old fashioned. I heard their sizing isn't very generous though, so I'm worried that if I get a 10, it'll be too tight.

Leo, yeah that's probably fitted enough and it is pretty. Only thing is, think it might be a tad too long. I think that length can sometimes be a little unflattering. Love the colour though!

I bought this coat from Hobbs last week. I have just noticed that it states that it is 'navy' but my coat does look black to me.

I am normally a size 12 but got a size 10 as I preferred the fitted look.

It is more than you wanted to spend but the quality is great and it is 80% wool so will be warm.
