What colour tights?

Because it's something I always feel I get wrong because they either don't match the top half or don't match the shoes! What colour rights should I wear with the following clothes and where can I get good quality, thick, warm tights?

Denim mini or brown knee length cord,
Various tops with a brown palette (creams, pinks, yellows, oranges)
Blue tops (mainly of the navy kind)
Brown ankle boots or black biker boots
Winter coats are mainly murky green or chocolate brown

That's quite a lot of information just to get the right tights!

Anything black I team with black tights (oh god I just said team. Next I will be suggesting a bold red lip. God help me).

I love navy tights so would get some of those. M&s do two types of navy tights. One is a more basic version which I tried yesterday - fine. That was very dark... a black toned blue. The other tights are slightly thicker and nicer feeling. Haven't tried yet but they appear more opaque which may be better with a more casual outfit.

Marking my place for other suggestions as I am bad with tights. I do like charcoal grey but it looks like you prefer warmer colours than me.

Yes to navy tights. They go with pretty much everything.
Maybe a burgundy with the black boots, or a charcoal grey.
I also like a textured knit in cream if with long boots.
New Look are good for a big and cheap selection.

depends where you are - e.g. work or weekend for tights.

I agree with CuriousTiger re the black tights and outfits.

I have scored some great Falke Tights in sale recently - about a fiver. they were a berry colour.

M&S used to be great not sure now.

I'd try M&S etc for tights - New Look and buy say one of each in styles/colours you like then you can discount if you like or not.

Have spent a fortune on Falke etc tights in sales navy wool, stripes etc which TBH were no better than e.g. H&M ribbed ones. which are also warm.

I think navy and grey would be the most versatile, too.

With the black boots I'd only wear black tights; I don't like black with other colours. That's just personal taste though, obviously!

For your green and brown coats/boots/skirts, hot pink tights would look nice.

Just to let you know I was inspired by this thread to get some black tights with a sort of jazzy grey pattern on them from M&S. They looked quite nice in the shop....

Learn from my mistake ladies. My (not slender) legs looked like two parsnips trussed up in a Xmas jumper. Plain colours only from now on! I might try burgundy though.

Burgundy and purple tights look good with blue outfits well, to me anyway

Navy, grey, burgundy/berry, and black should cover most bases.

Perhaps some 'woolier' ones for colder days but, as said, designs with interesting texture/ ribbing are better on slimmer legs.

I like Falke but also M and S Autograph (not so much their more 'basic' range).
