Chanel nail varnish

I assumed my friend had shellac etc as her nails were v shiny and slightly grown out, and always look v well kept only to find out its 'normal' nail varnish (albeit £20 a pop)
She said it lasts about 2 weeks
Really? Is this true before I go and get carried away exchanging my boots points for varnish and not Christmas presents??!

Chanel nail varnish is the best IMO. Yes, it lasts very well.

It's a truth universally accepted that it's crap. Sorry.

I'd be interested to know because I was thinking of buying some for a friend for Xmas but had read comments here that Chanel polish was rubbish!

Chanel nail polish lasts as well as any other polish on my nails. It doesn't last longer than Guerlain, Dior, OPI and cheaper polishes. It lasts longer than Essie (as Essie polishes peel off after a couple of hours).

I like Chanel polishes and I buy them - I like the colours and the finish.

I don't mind that they don't last more than a couple of days on my nails - no polish does.

I have hundreds of nail colours. The worst I've ever used is Chanel, chipped almost instantly, would never buy again.

Chanel lasts the same on my nails as any other polish. It's the application that's important - mine last over a week (not usually 2 weeks though) with base coat, 2-3 coats of polish, then top coat, and another layer of top coat later on if it's losing its shine and to make it last longer.

I only buy Chanel if I really love the colour and can't find a dupe in OPI/Essie/China Glaze etc.

Depends on several things- condition of nails and type eg oily nail beds do not hold polish well, application, other products used ef base and top coat.
All of these things affect length of wear so varies between people.

Also depends how long your nails are - polish lasts much longer on me when mine are short. And how much stuff you do - if your hands are often in water or doing lots of crafty/dirty/DIY type stuff it won't last at all. I am clearly lazy given how long mine lasts.

I've had some Chanel nail polishes and found that some were crap and others lasted well. I was an OPI convert for a long while but now have been recently buying Mavala as I like the shades and they are extremely long lasting.

After I apply, I carefully rub a finger tip over the edge of my nail and that removes the teensiest amount of polish from the edge of the nail and reduces chipping enormously.

Chanel is shit. Chips instantly.

I really like Chanel and found it did last very Well, but now I have 4 dogs To deal with and not enough time to do it properly like ElizabethBathory I find Nothing lasts very long.

I agree, it's the application that's important, I've used Chanel, Essie, Nails Inc, OPI and also cheaper brands such as Barry M & Rimmel - I find they're pretty much all the same if you use a good quality base coat & topcoat - I use OPI Rapid Dry topcoat & find it makes polish last longer for me

I also let each coat dry fully before applying the next one - I know that's not what manicurists do but it helps mine last I think. So the whole process does take ages! I do it on Fridays when I'm working from home alone - I can type while each coat dries :)

I find it only a few days more resilient than any cheaper (Rimmel) varnish (probably about a week) - but I do add a layer of clear hardening varnish.
